Ey Lucid I like your new name.:)

I figured it was time for change plus I was tired of people calling me 'xlucidx' when all they had to do was just call me Lucid. :p

Sooo, this way... everybody wins!

im still calling you xlucidx, whatcha gonna do about it, EH?

Nothing.

But, I have a question...

WHY. SO. SERIOUS?! *cuts face*

http://antispore.com/

Creationist r'tard wants spore banned as it poisons the mind of little kids into believing evolution...

They should be chuckling that a game on evolution had to be made by an intellegent designer. :p

EDIT: now that I look at it, everyone posting comments there don't even realize they have been rick rolled. LOL

I played from cell-space stage in one sitting and... wasn't that great, really. I think I'll start over today and just take it a little more easy, take my time with the editors a bit more. So many of those damn things get thrown at you in the civilization stage that I really just started to blow through them without caring. I also felt I had to rush through the tribal/civ stage just because the AI is so damn aggressive, it was just spam my instrument army/religious vehicles nonstop until done. Actually I ended up winning the civilization stage just by pressing a button to convert the rest of the cities that I had left... I was like... surely they don't really mean it just auto-converts everything that's left?! Then... yup.

And yes I did play through as a vegetarian/instrumental/religious ugly-as-shit fat pink bird thing. Was kinda sucky not even having half the creature parts by the time I was finished with creature stage too... I'll try a carnivore next, though I don't see how it's going to be much different at the tribal and civilization stages. Even as religious, it was just spam build vehicles and send them to attack only instead of guns they shot pink rainbows that still destroyed enemy vehicles anyway.

There's a new hack you can download to make attacks MUCH less common. Don't know exactly where, but it's circulating pretty quickly. This ought to make it enjoyable again.

Here's the origin of this downloadable hack.
:D

Downside : You need to make a new game for it to work properly.
But, luckily I really haven't got that far in the Space stage to really care if I need to start a new game or not.

i find that the ai in some cases is terrible. A lot of the time when you click your home nest/base and wait for your creature to get there, it get's stuck on an easily surmountable hill. Or when attacking in a group, you are bound to get stuck behind your other pack mates. If these types of problems are noticed right way from the average user, what the hell was pushing the release date all those times?

I also wish there was a more fluid evolution process. I understand you cant exactly replicate millions of years of evolution in a single game, but at least make an effort. The creature creator, although cool and addicting, could be 100 times better with a little more freedom.

Overall a good game but not what I expected

Good game but the space stage is too long, frustrating at times and the ending sucks heavy bollocks..

OK guys, just finished playing Spore. My 2 cents: shallow and boring. A collection of 5 mini games without real depth. Almost everything in creature creation is purely ornamental. It may be a cute and funny game but, considering all the hype, imo it's a very big disappointment.

The E3 demo of 06 looked alot...funner.

Come on Mr. Wright, don't dumb down your game for the sake of idiots!

He did. There was an interview and everything.

While it may suck bullocks it is not an ending.

The game has no end. You play until your bored of playing.

Try and kill the grox, that'll last you longer then the remainder of your natural life. :)

nurizeko, what you mean you can't kill the Grox? I mean make them extinct? That's bs, I mean there's an achievement in the game and everything for either allying or destroying the grox completely.

I just received this e-mail from EA over Spore's multiple accounts:-

Hello Ste,

This is Canon again. I deeply apologise for the continued difficulties with the Spore game. There was a minor issue with the entitlement, which has now been fixed. You may now retry with logging in to your '[email protected]' account, you should now have the same privileges with the aforementioned account.

Regarding the screenshot you provided with the "conflicting" statement, this is not a mistaken statement as an account that already has Spore entitled to it should be able to make use of the said option. Since you now have two accounts with Spore entitlements, you may use the Logout feature as needed.

Best Regards,

Canon D.
Electronic Arts™ Customer Support

Indeed. I can now log on with two accounts as I needed in the first please.
I guess I should be happy, and I am, but I can't help feeling that if it can be done, why are they holding it back?
So if you do want multiple accounts, pester the **** out of EA and threaten them with Trading Standards etc, worked for me.

The funny thing is, I was getting on to Trading Standards this afternoon too, no reason too now.

nurizeko, what you mean you can't kill the Grox? I mean make them extinct? That's bs, I mean there's an achievement in the game and everything for either allying or destroying the grox completely.

And do you have a lifespan that long enough to destroy every grox colony?.

Do you?.

Thats thousands upon thousands of worlds, and the grox can probably colonize as fast as you can pick em off, and you better make sure they cant recolonize a system you purged them from.

Your never going to kill them. :)

Have fun trying though. :D

i dont know what a grox is, but damnit im going to find out

So how does this game run, anyway? I'm thinking of getting it (once my net goes back up), but I'll mostly be playing it on the family computer since the other one is pretty much going to be a dedicated Warhammer machine as of tomorrow. The family puter is a recent-ish Dell packaged dealie - dual core, 1gb ram, on-board graphics, runs Vista. Not exactly grunty but it runs a few newish games surprisingly well. Is Spore very demanding or is it system friendly like the Sims?

I currently have a Religious Social Herbivore that's ripping up the continent (Civ phase).

I'm loving it so far, Tribal being the worst and Cell being the best.

IMPRESSIONS

Cell Stage: 9.5/10
Does what it sets out to do. The gameplay is very simple, though it didnt bother me at all. Its not too hard, but on normal I died once by being chased down by two huge cells. The graphics and animations in this stage are probably the best (relatively) in the whole game, and the small amount of unlockable parts means you will have enough to toy around with until the end of this sadly short phase.

Creature Stage: 9/10
In my opinion, the hardest of all the stages. By this I mean I died a couple times by accidentally running into an Epic creature. Gameplay, again isnt deep, but the HUGE amount of customization you get means you can carefully craft your creature to suit your style. Graphically, the creature models and animations are fantastic, but the environment is a tad bland on the texture side. It still can be finished in a few hours, but that was about the time I wanted to move on anyways.

Tribal Stage: 8.5/10
I doubt I'm the only one, but I just loved watching the creatures I personally made form an army and crush other tribes. The customization in this one is small compared to the last stage, but adding the management of a village balances that out. Graphically I didnt really have any complaints, probably because it had zoomed out quite a ways. The reason this one scored less was because I just didnt find the gameplay as fun. It was too similar to any bland RTS I had ever played. Lengthwise, it should take you about the same time as the creature stage to finish, depending on how good you are at strategy.

Civ Stage: 8/10
The worst of all the stages, though my opinion is biased based on my experience. By this time I was playing as an Economic race, but I still wanted to make tanks and battleships. However, YOU CANT. This meant I kinda sat helplessly at the beginning rebuilding my turrets as enemies pelted my city, my vehicles watching onwards. When I finally conquered 4 cities, there was only one other nation left that I had allied with to wipe out the others. I was preparing for a difficult one on one battle, only to find that I automatically merged with the nation and won the Civ Stage! Lolwut? Otherwise, I love how many editors are in this edition (though I am dissapointed that they make the buildings look better than they actually are). This stage took me about the same time as the last two, but it shouldve taken longer.

Space Stage: 11/10
Seriously, THIS is why you are gonna love Spore. This stage is the reason that there was so much mindblowing hype behind the game. There are what must be thousands of systems, each with their own planets, each with their own unique creatures made by the genius of another player all together. It is even possible to find your another creature from another game you made. In contrast to every preceding stage, this one is incredibly deep, allowing you to do arcade style combat (Cell Stage), gain multiple weapons and tools (similar to Creature Stage), manage colonies (somewhat Tribal Stage), and build alliances and trade routes or conquer cities (Civ Stage). On top of that, there are missions that can be given by just about any spacefaring species you meet, as well as a ton of secrets to discover. Graphically, space looks beautiful, and the planets look quite nice themselves. As you can imagine, this will keep you going for a LONG time, I know I am nowhere near close to being finished.

As one final note, I have to say one of the defining moments for me was once I was in the space stage, looking back on the history of my creature from its humble beginnings, seeing every change, every falter, every victory. THIS is the experience that makes Spore a must own for anyone who loves games. Period.

Just played for another 2 hours, rolling through the Civ and Space stages. It's still very charming and fun (Civ was more fun than it had a right to be, honestly) but Space is beginning to pall, partially because they won't let me do what I want to do and the bouncing around galaxies thing is really annoying to me. I mean, the method used, having to wheel my mouse around every few seconds... ai yai yai. Also my suspension of disbelief is starting to pall - not in the "Wait, what are these idiots doing in space?" kind of way, but more in the "WHY DOES THIS DISEASE MAKE THE GLOW?!? WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR THIS PLANET TO KILL THESE FIVE PARTICULAR CREATURES?"

Also I found an artifact, but some other race had actually built their entire bloody city on top of the Artifact. A real pain to find it, cos my radar was going off like mad but I couldn't see and find my thing.

I'm really starting to get into the Creators. I made some TF2 stuff, extremely cool...

Heh, nice iPod.
I might upload my things later on.

Thats what I love about Spore, people create such awesome things and they might not have touched a 3D modelling prog in their lives, just goes to show, that so many people have that creative spark and all they need is the right tools.

:D

Unfortunately actual modeling tools are far more complex than this. D:

I can't be bothered to search so **** you if this has been posted

this mod will reduce the frequency of all space event for the purpose of allowing people to enjoy their universe, rather than babysitting their planets.

This is my third thread on this, and also my final one. This is my final version of these mods, and I am satisfied they work as promised PROVIDING you follow the instructions. They are simple, but NEED to be followed.

Install - Download the file and COPY it into spore/data (the folder with spore_game.package in it). Copying it will make certain it's created date is newer than whatever else is in that directory so it will override the required data. Start a new game and enjoy (any phase is fine). Whenever you get an update you must reset the mods date by copying it to you spore/data folder again.

Be aware, this mod saves its tweaks to your savegame, so deleting the mod will not remove it from any game based on it. Also if playing in any language other than english the mod may not work. One tester had it running in russian fine, another in dutch did not.

This mod is a plugin only. It does not overwrite or change anything and can be deleted any time you like. Just remember the mod WILL still be active in any game started while it is installed.

As there is at least one badge depending on you stopping eco disasters so you may want to refrain from using the bigger ones, but it is your universe, choose one to fit your playing style/desires.
