is there an easy way to make stairs and rails?

I am using a prop of some railings going to a corner, and making the steps of them is a nightmare. Is there an easy way to do this? or do i have to keep making a brush for each step?

thanks

Todd

Well once you make two brushes you select both of them and then you get four, then you select four and get eight, and so on. If you are in a side view you can just use shift drag to copy the brushes.

yea, thats what ive been doig, but it just seems a bit of a farce having to match them to the rail, so dividing them up verically and horizontally etc.

What I did is I made templates.
then copied whole sections then recopied them 100 times.

Now, PLZ someone make me a map that has 1000000 boxes or cans one on top of another so I can drive a car through it. lol.

templates?

I was thinking of just sving them as a prefab for later use. Is that what you mean?

prefabs aren't working on hammer 4... it annoys me.

if you want to be really cheap on time (and processing poweR) you could always just have a sloped brush with stairs textured onto it...

haha, i think id rather spend time to make them

thanks

type "measurestairs" in the filter of your texture browser and use that texture to get your measurements...this will match the railing props. all you have to do is figure out the width. (0.25 texture scale)

use the other "measure" textures for getting the right size doors, rails, etc.

it's on the right close to the entities..
(can't check 'cause i'm downloading SDK patch w/phone modem=P)
