To weird for words. So do you think Led Zeppelin did this on purpose, is it a lie? Or is it a crazy coincidence?

Myself I don't really know what to think, i'm a Zeppelin fan and I never heard about this untill recently. I showed it to my friends and the funniest reaction iI got was "it sounds better this way".

http://www.wootang.net/backmask/mp3.html is a good website for examples of backmasking, the best are the unintentional ones (classic rock specifically). as that website points out, it's funny how easy it is to hear "satan" in reverse lyrics..

i said this like a month ago but no one said anything, i've had the charmander since i've been a member here, its also my avatar on 2 other forums AND my AIM buddy icon! it pisses me off and i wish he'd change it to an original avatar. i even PMed him asking him to change it when i first saw it
 
So I like backmasking, even found a couple. and some unintentional ones. Did you know "girls ear" backwards sounds like "praise the lord" ??

In any case anyone know a site that says HOW to backmask stuff??

I just try to enjoy Led Zeppelin's music, if it has satanic messages, well thats dandy, although i dont think that was on purpose.
 
i can't even recognize anything when i listen to the backwards play. I hear something that resembles "satan" but thats it, not like a message or something, unless somebody can figure it out and post the backwards lyrics here.
 
It says the backwards lyrics right there if you click on the button.
I couldn't understand it until I read along with them.
 
hmmm i saw the forward lyrics there, but not any backwards ones... i checked for them too... maybe i missed something.. 1 sec

I saw a guy get over 500 in a day, they wernt spam either, he dug up every single thread from the past couple of months and responded to it. Then he got banned. :O

Ive seen the stairway to heaven thing before and it probably was on on purpose. Theres just to many connected words for it to be an accident: sweet satan, make me sad whose power is satan, give you 666, etc.

doubtful, imo. as was iadvertently recognized by jon, the reverse doesn't really sound like anything unless you have those words in front of you. it seems very unlikely to me, that plant and page and them would have come up normal coherent lyrics that made odd (albeit humorous) satanical lyrics in reverse.

omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just listened to a few of my metal songs backwards and heard...................absolutely nothing.

Even that song 'Beyond the Realms of Death' that's supposed to have suicidal messages, I can't hear them.

Now I know why listening to Stairway to Heaven has always made me want to go sacrifice a goat, use its blood and entrails to paint a pentagram on the wall, recite an ancient spell that I learned during my time in Hell, and summon demons through the portal it creates!

Phew...I thought I was just crazy.

I like some Rock. But some bands in the beggining did thought that :O.
 
metal is just a varient of rock.

Led Zeppelin were labelled as Satanists in their day.
 
Nothing wrong with it, its very clever. Playing it forward "climbs the stairway to heaven" and playing it backwards climbs down to hell. Its great stuff.

"iam the master, the pokemon master" oh yea!. Id say it was, words dont come out like that backwards for no reason, especially with the heaven/hell refference.
 
I don't think 'messages' like that are intentional. You can't just 'dub' in some backwards messages, they have to be words when played forward as well. If you'd want to craft satanic backmasks into a song about heaven to create a clever result you would need to learn talking backwards or something to see if it sounds right.
Basically, I don't believe it's humanly possible to intentionally record specific backwards messages like that into a song that also fits together right when normally. It's coincidence.
 
Well all you have to do is write out the lyrics out backwards and make sure they sound right when played backwards, its timeconsuming but easily done.
 
Perhaps, the 'make sure they sound right' is easier said then done. Give it a try if you feel like it. :p
(not that I've ever tried it)
 
These hidden messages are great.

Reminds me of my music teacher a hundred years ago who told us about the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band with all kinds of subtle hints towards the rumor that Paul Mc Cartney supposedly died.

A lot of kids didn't sleep that night, angry parents calling school and complaining.. bwahaha
