STALKER sequels/expansions to be announced at e3

I pirated STALKER like pretty much the entire majority of the STALKER fan community, I had already paid for the STALKER CE before I did this, and I own STALKER CE original.

Listen, I don't mean that STALKER is a bad game, but it's nothing compared to what it was intended to be, and THQ has even admitted themselves that they forced GSC to make major changes in gameplay to accompany a 'better' story and make it more 'fun'.

Fact remains that for many STALKER fans that were regulars on STALKER fansites since 2003, the game was a BIG dissappointment in comparison with what it was supposed to be.

Oh and FYI, I'm NOT pro-warez in the least if anyone was suggesting I am, I know a few devs at Pandemic(Merged with Bioware these days) and at LionHead(Part of MGS these days, mainly from #Xbox360 on QuakeNet) so I know what kinda work goes into making a game, not to mention the amount of money.

Well I'm glad they made changes because it was indeed a lot of FUN.

I watched 'Stalker' again last night. Man, I really want that new PC. That move is so good, I nearly installed the game again.

As far as I know the game has nothing to do with the movie.

Well, the movie is based off Roadside Picnic which served as a major influence for both STALKER(game) and the movie, but it's not DIRECTLY related as in being the same universe or such, no.

As far as I know the game has nothing to do with the movie.

Not in terms of storyline, but the settings are very similar. The book, Roadside Picnic even more so. The film and the game share the same mood, even though you never really see any of the anomalies in the movie, they're still scary.

Don't peddle your excuses spakker. It's not a community it's a business, They make a product, you buy it. Just because you've drooled outside the cake shop for hours doesn't justify you stealing the goods, no matter how you write it.

Who said I was trying to justifying it? I only pointed out a few facts, I never said they made it more nor less right. Maybe you should get some glasses, Kadayi?

Oh, and stealing a cup cake can't really be compared to stealing a computer game, because I don't STEAL a computer game unless I physically take a copy from the store, atleast by Swedens definition, I merely COPY it, but that is ILLEGAL because of copyright laws, it is not written in the lawbook as THEFT.:)

So because Swedish law is poorly written it's acceptable? That's your argument? You're quality of character is a shining example to us all, please get a rope, do the world a favour and martyr yourself so we can get the Pope to ordain you a Saint.

Holy off-topicness, batman!

How the **** did you go from talking about the STALKER sequels/expansions to warez?

That movie looks kind of cool. If I were still a film buff I'd actually go and find the time to watch it :p

You're almost as bad as Rude Ken.

You're almost as bad as Rude Ken.

The guy is a thief by any standard, I'm a designer and as far as I'm concerned he deserves nothing but utter contempt. I fail to see how me not condoning his actions makes me remotely bad.

"Bad", in this case, means "obnoxious". Every single post of yours I've read lately is you attacking someone else, either in here or in the Fallout 3 thread. I'm just saying, maybe you should be less confrontational, or less angry, or SOMETHING, because all you seem to do is argue in this forum.

Stigmata, let him, obviously this troubled youth has alot of opressed anger and anxiety he needs to let out, comeon, we've all been there one time or another!

Obnoxious or not - you can't deny it's stealing. I mean, I pirated Stalker, and I know that's not legal.

I do, however, plan to buy it with my shiny new post-Crysis PC.

But the thing here is, I never saidit was legal nor RIGHT to DO so. I NEVER SAID THAT. Yet he felt obligated to bring it up and insult me.

Stealing is never right, but hey, atleast I'm not one of those people that warez almost every game they have? My entire game collection(Excluding actual gaming machines like my consoles etc) easily passes 6,000 USD(I'm a geek don't mock me :'() of worth, so I still think I'm contributing to the industry, atleast a bit.

I pirate games too whoopy nothing to be proud of, but hey I buy the damn things just the same. If that means wasting money on crappy products so be it. I'll usually just sell them later down the track anyway.

Example:

I could never sell my games! They're like my substitute for Children until I manage to produce some of my own!

Try dropping less acid before posting in future. Your accusations and the reality of what and how I post don't stand up under scrutiny (do a user search). I've yet to discover whom I've been attacking in any thread (let alone the fallout 3 thread) in the last month or so. Feel free to retract your accusations accordingly and crawl back into your hole.

hey moron, someone who has bought the game at retail is not STEALING it if they download it again over the internet, because they've bought the damn thing already.

Wombats. Aren't they just great? They are aren't they. Even their name is great.

Wombats.

And they're not even bats.

Please feel free to post up the chapter in the Stalker EULA that supports that legal assumption.

I can already see the sequel/expansions

STALKER: ON THE ROAD

Now you can drive vehicles!

STALKER: SLEEPLESS IN CHERNOBYL

Now you can sleep!

Kadayi is right about pirating, but nobody here is disagreeing lol. And you are pretty annoying dude. Watching this argument kinda makes me feel like Im watching a car chase on the news. I know the "right" outcome would be the guy gets caught by the police, but secretly im rooting for the bad guy. Cops are annoying, and so are you.

Also, isnt having backup copies of software you already own protected by law, despite what a EULA says?

Kind of a moot point no? He bought the game, I know if the cops crawled my computer apart from finding dupe files in a truecrypt volume which hides another volume for good reason they'll find all my legal backups.

Also EULA != law.

did he buy the game? I mean why would you buy the game and download a pirated version?

Thank you for proving my point.

*moves on*

Maybe because the pirate version of STALKER came out over one week before retail release on several newsgroups, and some of us who had waited since 2002/2003 couldn't control ourselves.:p

alright fair enough, I'm inclinded to believe you even though you could pretty much say anything as we have no way of verifying it

Want me to take a pic of my CE copy tomorrow and paste a link in here?:p

2. THQ grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use one copy of the Software in the country in which you acquired the Software for your own personal, non-commercial use, but retains all property rights in the Software and all copies thereof.
By downloading it he has made himself a copy. Said copy is well within the terms of the license agreement. :) Or at least, that's what I understand from it. By pirating it he could have (note: could) shared content to other users which is illegal, but the point is his copy of the game is fine.
Oh, and sorry for calling you a moron earlier, no hard feelings. :imu:

But back on topic, rather than expansions, i'd prefer it if they would add more areas in for us to play with, so we got more of the game than we already have. Exploring the entire zone in a free roaming mode (perhaps after completion of the main storyline) rather than a few levels.

Assuming he payed for that copy, yes. I don't want to be the devil's advocate here, but the rules apply for each individual copy. If you buy the game, it's still not legal to download it afterwards.

stalker is an awesome game...

after a weapons mod that lets you tweak the variables via wordpad (i made all weapons more accurate and powerful especially the pistols and the starting AKs)

after a large scale mod the reintroduces sleep, reskins the weapons, reintroduces weapon repairs, makes eating more important, improves sound effects, allows npcs to bleed out more often, pick up and put down exploding props, various graphic tweaks that improve looks and performance, and i 'think' adds bullet penetration

after trader mod to be able to buy all equipment from the traders, thus allowing you the freedom of using weapons with uncommon ammo

after a mod that makes artifacts more interesting and more varied in their effects

and after the latest patch

the game is awesome. It all comes down to doing your homework and realizing that most games fresh out the box are not tweaked your personal preferance, and thats why you have to go find mods.

there's also one that readds vehicles, but its buggy at the moment so i haven't picked it up until they fix it up more.

links to these mods? kthx

I hate re-skins. They always look so cheap, all be it in high-resolutions.

I loved STALKER and still do, I have to say more than HL2 I`m afraid.
The detail this game has is just like no other.
I prolly love it cause I`ve had no problems with it yet.

Hope this exp/sequel will be even better.
