Star Wars: The Old Republic - TimeLine Trailers

Are you anything other than a searchbot trawling youtube for videos marked "trailer" to link here? I find it hard to believe it's a human creating these threads.

Still not convinced on TOR, but if anyone can make a good story-driven MMO bioware are the guys.

All I want from this game is PVP.
And a bounty hunter class.

A pity it's now a MMORPG - having a single-player game with carefully tailored set-pieces for the player's enjoyment far outweighs a MMORPG with numerous fetch quests, destroy quests and clear-the-area quests for the general populace to grind on. That WOW has only performed in the area successfully for a long period of time speaks volumes of blizzard's expertise, but Bioware vs Blizzard ... I don't know.

When it comes out you'll be seeing "Retrieve 5 Wampa-rat skins for a 1+ Blaster of Rending", no doubt.

Same.

Also, I think the lack of creativity seen in The Old Republic is deeply saddening.

I don't think it's possible to bitch enough about this garbage MMO direction.

Don't be so quick to judge, it might turn out ok!

BTW, where did Daffy go?

MMO = a game I'll never play. Is it too much to ask for a Jedi Knight game with cutting edge physics?

I'm not judging its quality - I simply don't want an MMO. I don't play them. I want KOTOR 3.

My brother is like you, has this deep hatred for MMOs. I'll tell you what I tell him every time he finds me playing another MMO: it's about the PVP just like Ace said.

If I want PvP lightsaber and blaster combat, I'll play JKA, thank you very much.

Sigh, I really really really wish they'd scrap the MMO and just give us the singleplayer game.

I like MMOs...rarely if ever compete in pvp ..it's just something about playing in a massive world populated by people. random encounters are awesome. my biggest problem with mmos is one of immersion. the gameplay quests (courier quests) tend to break immersion because after hunting down your 15th snipe/were-squirrel it becomes mindnumbingly repetative. I'm waiting for a MMO where you can do anything, be anything and not have to grind in the traditional mmo sense. It's a MMO dont cage me in. if this breaks the MMO mold and allows me to shape my character how I want without forcing me into typical tired mmo conventions then I'll be sure to purchase it

Should look into Mortal Online it's a sandbox MMO - medieval/fantasy (I know) but here are the perks:

- full loot, you kill a player you can loot everything he had
- no classes, skill driven system - pick your own skills and they level as you use them
- first person view only
- real time combat, you swing your sword yourself - like oblivion
- seamless world, no instances
- player housing wherever you want
- in-depth crafting, I don't remember the exact number but the combination of craft-able items was in the millions

If you want the rundown, take a look at the developer's powerpoint presentation they released a couple of weeks ago:

http://www.mortalonline.com/files/presentation/MortalOnlinePresentation.rar

just over 100mb because it has a couple of videos integrated in the slides but it tells you everything you need to know about the game. I think if they deliver on their promises it's going to be a good game, but I'm especially cautious about not getting sucked in by the hype. It seems that every MMO I've played since SWG has been nothing but a waste of time.

So a fantasy first-person EVE?

Sounds interesting if they ever actually make it work.

Yeah if, I'll probably buy it and play it for at least the free month to see if they deliver on half the promises.

Mmm-mmm, I can't wait to hop on and find all of the servers filled to the brim with Jedi.

Game makers have a serious problem...they don't have the same opinion of the gaming community as to what a good game is :(

If they can capture the atmosphere, story telling and exploration from their previous games then this should turn out to be a pretty good game. Bioware's games have never been about gameplay imo.
I couldn't care less about PvP. PvP does more harm to the overall gameplay of an MMO than it does good.

I guess you never played SWG, the greatest MMO and star wars game of all time. :frown:
You my dear Sir, are a moron!

Everyone knows that the best Star Wars game was Star Wars: TIE Fighter for MS-DOS.

Sigh, people these days, no proper taste.:(

The best Star Wars game is Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast

followed by Rebel Assault II and Rogue Squadron + Shadows of the Empire (n64). This is the unquestionable divine truth.

It's not. KOTOR 2 is the best Star Wars game ever made. It's better than the movies, too.

you should try Age of Conan again. much has changed

I'll have a look at the game when I get a chance ..seems pvp-centric, which doesnt interest me all that mcuh ..never have the time to grind raids to get the best loot

I'm actually selling all my MMO accounts trying to make some money for a video card, already sold darkfall & warhammer, now just need a buyer for the AOC account. I can't get back into it alone, my guild won't go back to it, they're all looking forward to Aion a korean grindfest with WoW graphics. :/

I'm suddenly excited about it for no real reason.

Have yet to play the other old repub games. Been meaning to though.

Well that all looks very exciting and like stuff that you're never even going to get close to doing ingame.

Somewhat excited about it.
Then I remember that it's going to be an MMORPG that requires you to pay a monthly fee.

Excitement gone.

edit: Actually, you know what... this'll probably be the first MMORPG that I'll ever subscribe to.
Going to wait until I actually see some gameplay first though.

Nice trailer, pity it's just a cutscene.

It's funny on the gametrailers comments section how people are defending the cinematic by noting that you don't do any of the stuff in the WoW cinematics either.
