Yes, they ask the LAN question...that's actually not what I made this thread for :p

When asked about Achievements in SC...he goes to mention you'd have to be logged into Bnet to get the single player achievements. "We want people to be logged in at all times so they can be with the community. It's not REQUIRED...."

He then goes into about whispers and what not while being connected to bnet....

That's kind of interested, because as was said in the past, the resemblance to Steam. Think of it as the Steam Community.

This just got me more excited to hear the full bnet 2.0 review!

Also, the "95% is Terran missions while there are couple dealing with the Protoss and Zeratul..."

...Why don't you just make a Starcraft megathread?

I don't see why it's necessary to be logged in for something as simple as achievements in Singe player. Why not just simply trust the client? When a client comes online after doing SP and getting a bunch of achievements trust it and say yes okay you have them. Why would you want to be online during Singeplayer? And yes it pisses me off with Steam too.

Ah there's the video! Long one. I can't wait to not get into the beta.

(I lose a part of my soul every time one of my posts gets deleted)

...Why don't you just make a Starcraft megathread?

If I did that, then the amount of info that will be flowing in the next couple of weeks/Blizzcon would make it neigh impossible to keep up with NEW posts while there's a discussion going on at the exact same time.

Plz stay on topic, that's why this thread was purged the first time...

Kyo, I agree with you there. Being online just for achievements is kinda a bummer. I guess it's easier to find out bugs/issues with the achievement system. We've seen how Valve has had a couple of issues with it. Would be easier to log and figure it out this way, instead of it taking longer/more complaining to figure out, "Oh, THAT'S the part that we messed up on."

*Shrug*, really the only reason I can see about it lol. It would be nice to throw those without internet a bone, eh?

Hah I saw this thread earlier and came back on second thought to purge it but Samon already beat me to the punch. For future reference guys, don't worry about whether or not Pitz or anyone else should be making a megathread or if topics are too similar, if that is the case then the moderators will handle it. No need to shit up a thread over it.

I am personally not too bothered by the whole achievements while logged in thing, or any of it (including the LAN debacle). It's just the trend of PC gaming (really gaming in general) towards the internet being essentially required regardless of whether or not its actually being used at any given moment. We are already used to this from Steam, and while I think it's good to be able to play offline, I don't mind Blizzard and Valve moving in the direction of constant connectivity. Frankly the only thing that bothers me about all this is that I wish Steam and Battle.net could merge so I don't have to be running them both. As long as Bnet stays mostly inside Starcraft / other titles rather than being a huge standalone program like Steam or Impulse though that shouldn't be much of a big deal.

You can't really compare to Impulse. You only need Impulse to download updates and could even uninstall it if you wanted.
