Starcraft 2: Multiplayer

its exhausting because of the duration and intensity at which you point all your guns at each other hoping that they move an inch before you do

Yeah it can be quite intense.

1v1 ladder feels so volatile right now. I lost 3 games in a row, two to 1700+ diamonds, then a gold zvz.
Then I won against a plat(smashed him) and just now beat an almost 1800 diamond zerg.

It was really close at the start and he got my second hatch down to 10hp!(built a second at the top of my ramp because it wasn't safe to expand yet) to his lings and blings but I was just able to hold him off and then wall my choke a bit and just held and scouted the map.
He let up for a bit and I felt that he was transitioning and I figured it was going to be muta since all the lings so I built a hydra den and took my natural. When he had 2 mutas killing my ovies I had 5 hydras keeping my base safe so I started to move out more. Spreading my creep across the map until it met his.

I build more hydras, got evo for upgrades and a couple spores and infestors. I added some more lings and banelings as well. I was able to kill off his mutas with a good fungal(sure going to miss that) and he transitioned to roach/baneling. I took a third and felt comfortable attacking now with a large army of hydras backed by 4-5 infestors. I spotted with my overlords and was able to fungal almost his whole army and with them spread out like that was easily able to secure the GG.
Thanks to the infestors I was able to take on his 30 roach/25 baneling army with only losing 7 of my 27 hydras.(he focus fired my infestors after they had used all their energy)

I think that I'm getting better and learning how to survive the early game all-ins. I'm still having problems with the 4 warp gate push.
If I can survive into the mid-game I can usually pull off a win.

Ladder is lots of fun, I just wish it would be more consistent in the players it gives me. It tells me that I'm evenly matched against these high level diamonds which means I don't get many points for the matches that I do win.

Cool. I'll scour it and glean its Zergy essences tonight.

Yeah, still not making sense to me here. You sit around doing nothing through the entire mid game and then tell me the matchup is exhausting. Try dropping, sneaking in a position advantage, or Marauder pushing him before his tank numbers get high.

1. Marauder pushes will not work because of marines + bunkers

2. Dropping costs you more than your opponent, and uses up precious gas you need to make your artillery line

3. How do you sneak a position advantage when your facing down each other?

Great news for Zergs!!! Blizzard is reverting some of the changes from the 1.2 patch.

Some of the changes we’re working on implementing:

# Bunker build time reduction removed as previously noted

# Fungal Growth’s terrestrial limitation has been removed and the ability once again affects air units

# It will once again be possible to hold down a key to repeat a hotkey command

Praise be! Fungal is still going to be effective against Protoss air!

Lol I got fed up with zerg needing 9000 million apm and 2000x skill level and switched to Terran :D

DWANG! Feels fun to play something else for a change. Maybe I'll get a more solid feeling about terran timings and will transition back to zerg later.

2. Dropping costs you more than your opponent

Then you must be doing it wrong? A successful drop costs your opponent more (otherwise people wouldn't be using drops). Abuse your opponent's immobility with drops and harass etc and get him out of position.

GSL Ro8 spoilers
Anyone watching the GSL by the way? Tomorrow at 10 am GMT Jinro is playing the in the semifinals. So nice to have a foreigner make it so far and as a bonus, he's representing my country! He could become Sweden's top e-sports player of all time if he keeps this up. Go Jinro!

I have been watching it. Only watched one match from last night because the players weren't very good. I really hope Jinro is able to beat MC! If he does GSL3 is basically his.

But MC is extreeeemely good at PvT (best in the world?) and Jinro (who's very good friends with MC) says that MC has a lot bigger chance at winning the GSL than he does :(. So we'll see, but I'm holding my thumbs!

It doesn't matter who breaks out of day 2, whoever does basically wins GSL

From now on, if you're going to spoiler the GSL, could you warn and then spoiler tag? I'm still catching up.....

Oooh, sorry :|. Spoilered it now (although the damage is already done). You should've looked away when you saw GSL in the first sentence before the spoilers! I figured everyone interested would be up to speed cause it's such a big and famous tournament :(.

~GSL Spoilers~

Go Jinro! I don't think he'll be able to beat MC though, but whoever does win basically wins S3.

CyberPitz, by the way, where are you finding the GSL games? You pay the premium fee on their website?

Also, consider the GSL spoiler as payback for when you posted a picture of your bloodied excrement some years ago which made me feel sick :x.

:)

Yeah I saw the news of this yesterday. Didn't really want to post it, and I haven't watched it either. I'll wait for the real deal when it happens.

And welcome back Tav!

Oh? I thought your net was down for a few weeks...I haven't seen you on Steam for a while.

I still have no internet at home, I was just hoping you would relate what I said to Babylon 5.

And I dare not touch the video either.

You win this round... :p

I do pay the premium service. I'm loving it. A very good amount of SC2 content for $15

Mmmm B5....

I refuse to watch that video btw.

I never got into it.

I've been playing more 1v1 ladder! It is incredibly fun! ZvZ is still a pretty retarded matchup.
One game I had today was just me hanging in there, barely. The guy made way more zerglings than I did but I was able to survive because I got banelings before he did and kept him at bay. He expanded and I teched to Lair and got a few mutas by the end. He sent a huge army of lings to my base and I was able to just barely hold it off and then he just gg'd and left the game.
I thought I was going to lose it for sure as I was totally unable to leave my base and expand, but in the end I had a stronger economy than he did.
He was trying to kill me too hard with all those zerglings.

Here's a replay I just had against a 1750 Terran. It was pretty close up until the end where I just completely overpowered him.
One of the things that helped my I think was getting all my upgrades for my units. He did a couple big Thor pushes with bio army but I was able to hold them off with a good mixed army of lings, blings, roaches, and infestors.

I'm trying to work on being aggressive, but I usually do better in longer games if I play more passive/reactionary. In that last game the Terran was quite aggressive and it felt like he was always at my base.

I feel like I'm getting quite a bit better. I still can work on my macro and doing a better job at scouting . I think I'll be able to get to 800 by the end of the month. My goal is to get up above 2000.

You had great timing in that Terran match, especially at the end. Plus I lol'd at his SCV meat shields during the Thor push (shouldn't he have been repairing with them?!)

ZvZ is retarded until you spend MANY MANY hours finding the exact timings of every single opening + their relation to every single map distance and 4 player spawn position.

Which I did (took a long time...)

One of the reasons I refuse to make a transition into playing Zerg *Even though I freaking love playing them...* is ZvZ. It's so annoying to me.

ZvZ that didn't revolve around lings, banelings, or mutas. Just how I like it. Other Zerg was 1950 D
I played pretty bad(all of my games today have sucked) but I was able to pull out a win thanks to having a varied army composition, upgrades, and some great fungals.
He did a great run-by with lings while our roach armies were fighting in the middle of the game. I should have known to stop it since he sent one in there. Good play by him.

Heh. I've found out that in TvT, when the other side is massing tanks and vikings, you can just roll them over with only tanks without bothering to go siege mode because the DPS for siege and tank mode is basically the same, and since tanks are large enough, splash damage loses it's meaning.

So, if the other side has a lot of vikings, You have up to 150% ~ 200% of tank strength, and you can just roll over the enemy, blitzkreig style.

But I usually go with Thor + SCVs + Marine push early in the game, so...

I played a game with a friend of mine who is pretty good. It was pretty close, I did an early rush and hurt his economy a ton, but I didn't quite follow up as well as I could/should have. Still a pretty good game with lots of gooey banelings and marine/tank action.
I ended up losing. I feel like it was an army control mistake from me that sealed the deal, but my macro also wasn't quite up to his level.

1.2 is officially out. Chat channels are back *Meh*. I decided to re-create the good ol' "My Void" channel, though!
