Hey all. Well after getting board modellin gun after gun and them skin mappin them, i thought i might aswell try my hand at character modelling.

This is for Chaos Ops by the way. Dunno if hes gonna be used though.

He is losely based around Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell, and also some other work from CGTalk.com. Hes got a silenced Beretta and an UMP .45 on his back you may of seen those models posted here somewhere.

Keep in mind this is my first finished character he is still a WIP but comment away.

Poly count is 3800 by the way. I double checked it too it seemed a bit low. But r well what a ya gonna do :)

Heres the basic model

Now once id finished him i wanted to pose him for another render. So i taught myself to rig my character. Rig being creating a skeleton. My skeleton didnt turn out to bad, but i took short cuts everywhere, such as there is no head bone or hand and finger bones :p.

So heres the Posed render.

Looks great. I like the style.

I think the hands might be a too big (especially looking at the size of the hand in relation to the size of the wrist in the bottom screenshot). Chest seems a bit flat as well, even when accounting for the flatness of the armor. The armor would make him look a bit more "fat" in the front.

Good points. I welded the hands on and musta mist making the wrist look right. Now looking at it the tops on the hands are too long, i'll get on to it.

As for the chest i'll buff him up, give him some armour plates there or something.

I think the chest shape is fine, actually, when I look at it now. It would probably look fine if you just made the armor look a bit more extruded or padded in relation to his cloth covering. What I mean is, when I look at the top one it just looks like the armor is a different color of the same type of cloth as the shirt... whereas it should be thicker.

Actually the armour sticks out but hardly that much. I really need to buff it up to make it look like armour.

Nice model, but to me it looks like his head is on backwards, meaning his stomach looks like his back. I think you need to make his pecks farther out than his stomach. Try moving his gut in a bit..

Actually looking at it again, it might be his neck/shoulders. Maybe his head is too far back and not enough neck. Once this problem is worked out it will be great.

You might be right. I think the puffed out armour kinda pushed his head back. I see what you mean though, i'll work on it.

from what i can see(sun shining into my screen :( ) it looks good, and looks like some good proportions.
You can easily boost him in polu's ....another thing... i would give him a face... then you can use some of your polygons, and it gives him more attitude, and at the bottom of his jeans where it goes in.... use some polys there to smooth it out :)

thats a very nice model the Fuse, very nice for a first, im gonna try my hand at modellin ppl i think, i was just wondering, how did u make the hands, coz they look a bit odd. it sort of looks like uve cut into a block fo the fingers, did u make it from a block or a load of cylinders ??

For the hand i started with a box for the palm. Shaped that then extruded boxes and modified each to get the right kinda shape. They may be a bit fat though.

You say give him the face. The whole point was to give him a stealth look, hence the balaclavor (spelling). My next character wilol have a face though im just gettin warmed up.

Looks great! Except for the oversized wrists, but as for the rest, it looks fantastic!

Nice model. Some things could be pointed out as been out of preportion and some things that wouldn't really work. But it looks nice and at the end of the day people wouldn't hardly notice some of the things ingame. Also as u said u prob won;t be using it. But good first try at a character.

looks preaty good
My suggestions:
-do something with jaw-nose area he doesn't semms to have nose
-eyes are to high
-he looks so "smooth" maybe I am wrong? is he a scuba diver?
-work at chest and arms
