and also that you don't have to download a new installer, if you have the beta it would update automatically.

well let me just set everything in place then.
All of the above are false.
as far as i know, the steam page being slow was a reaction of thousands of users simultaneously refreshing it ever second.

cs 1.6 will be released in two weeks, when wonid goes down(seems logical enough).

and finally, YES, you do need to download a new installer.
if you look on steampowered.com, search for topics made by eric johnson, THEN come back here and say all that shit you say.

Why are we assuming the new movies will come out as soon as the new version is relased? I was under the impression that they would gradually released them in the time between the Steam release and the HL2 release

Well that's most likely what's going to happen, but everyone on here is super optimistic and excited, so it would be nice to see some media releases with the new steam release.

I don't think it was a DoS attack. I think it was just a user overload, 100,000++ Half-Life users trying to get to their site at the same time to download the new steam.

Any way I don't even think Steam will be on the steampowered.com server, it will be on Fileshack, Fileplanet, 3D Gamers, etc. and maybe a few separate valve servers somewhere.

I think we should cut valve a little slack. I meen, after all the stuff they've done for us (mod support, answering question after question anout hl2, many of which are the same question). It's not like they even 'owe' us hl2 & steam, or to get them done on time. It's only 1 day, it's not like we need it right now.

That said, i hope HL2 isn't delayed. If it is after the assurence that it will be on time i'll not trust valve so much. Even if it is delayed, is it really that important, i mean if it was delayed by 1 week i bet many people on this forum would go balistic, we don't know what goes on at valve beyond what they tell us, so all sorts of things could crop up that they couldn't possibly have forseen.

It's DD/MM/YYYY

NOT MM/DD/YYYY

Um, you do know that almost every version since 6.6 has been complete crap, right? 1.6 is actually heading back toward Counter-strike's roots, which is a good thing. The beta versions of CS where by far the best, and recent versions (except 1.6) have been quite horrible.

my insiders tell me that they accidentally formatted their Harddisk drive along with all the HL2 files... Luckily they made a back up of Steam. Too bad HL2 will have to be created again from scratch...
