Steam Update

inferno is beautiful and port gives a great feeling of scale but feels a bit like a paintball arena.. exposed. Not complaining, port is fun but its no inferno.

*sigh*, so after waiting over an hour to update, Steam won't let me play Inferno or Port, "differs from the server's"
just great

97% done with this HUGE update!

Now this is a kick-ass update VALVe :D Can't wait to get ingame to try them out ;)

go to steampowered.com and read the FAQ's. search for "validate" or something similar. theres one article there about validating your steam cache whereby if a file differs from what you should have, be it corrupted or wghatever it will delete that file and download a fresh one. Beats reinstalling it all.

Anyway thats my suggestion, it may/may not be successful

ok, so I figured out what my problem was, I had a copy of de_inferno that had been downloaded a while back, it was a shitty remake of it in source.
deleted that one and then steam installed the appropriate one, (thx for the idea thou smigit), now it works but i'm having a tiny problem, so i'm wondering if anyone can help me.
it seems there are some textures missing or out of place... here are some pics

this is the inferno's walls when I get too close, they "black out", another shot of the wall.
Lastly, this is the reflections of the windows.

Anyone know where I could redownload or install the proper sprites or files missing???

My only suggestion is to try the exact same thing I suggested earlier. I'm unsure, I had similar issues with the stress test where I would get an "error" text where those 4 spinning windoes at the begining, that wasnt fixed for like a month. Hopefully its a different issue. Try steampowered.com and look/post on their forums :D

Well I've had a good chance to play the new maps and I have to say inferno roxxers my soxxers. The bells and the fish make it all worthwhile. Port is fun if you like sniping. However, do you remember that old HL2DM favourite 'Looping sound which crashes to desktop..."? Well I had my first one on CSS just now :O. After 150 hours of game time, I've never had one on CSS. Ah well I just hope its a one off.

hey thx for that, it worked :D .... partly
so the darkening of the walls up close is gone, but the windows with the reflections all screwed up is still there, argh, this is bugging me, but thx for your suggestion Smigit
