I intend on buying HL2. If I buy it off steam can I just dl all the information that would be on the CDs and play it without waiting 6-8 weeks to play HL2?

If you buy it on Steam now you can play it as soon as you have downloaded it. It might take you a while, and shouldn't be attempted on 56K uless you have a lot of time on your hands.

The Steam packages are just that- Steam only. You will recieve no CDs (even optionally) with any of the Steam packages. The game is downloaded to your computer and then you're ready to go.

6-8 weeks? The game is currently avalible now. Download off steam and if you want cd copies you can use steams built in backup halflife2 feature and it can burn it to cds for you.
