I want the PR guy at valve's job. It must be awsome! Im mean come on.... They blateanly miss a release date... and this is 20 hours after the fact and their is still no word from the company.

Does anyone know what in the world is going on?

hopefully they are busy making progress in squashing game bugs ect, but still they need to be better at keeping us informed.

I don't think anyone does...i'm sure they're working on something though. I'd hope that it's HL2 and not more CS:S bugs...unless the CS:S problems effect HL2.

Missed a release? I'm pretty sure it was a preload, and I'm pretty sure a preload and a release are like night and day.

the pre-load data was supposed to be released. thus a release date. :burp:

Is their a world record for the most missed release dates? or dates in general?

the CS:Source problems do affect HL2.. i am talking about the ones related to the source engine such as random crashing... but yeah CS haters won't bother to understand why Valve insists on fixing the bugs in CS:Source and therefore not comprehending(sp?) why HL2 related stuff gets pushed back.. :|

This isn't that abnormal for a company to not have a press release/statement as soon as a delay/problem occurs. I expect we will hear something either Wednesday or Thursday regarding this latest delay. Valve is still probably analyzing what is going and trying to come up with a proper statement.

Give them time.

Nostradamus wins hands down !

i think the preload will come this week, and valve isnt going to say anything about it so in case it gets even more delayed, we wont get let down and we wont get mad again. i think its coming soon.

yes i think its a tie between tf2 and duke nukem forever though. Hl2 has a few years of missed release dates to even catch up =P :rolling:

Yeah. It does seem like Doug Lombardi has a really easy job. Like, what exactly does he do all day?

Do we honestly need an announcement to let us know

that they know

that they were late?

comeon people. They don't need to point out the BLATANTLY OBVIOUS

I dont understand how content that they said was ready to go and that STEAM's bandwith was causeing them not to release it.

Gimme a differnt map to play as dust is getting frikin old.

ehe yea fun game. sometimes underhanding works good but nothing like nailing those fast overhand shots

I'll make the announcement for them:
<START MADE UP CRAP>

TO: Hl2.net forums
FROM: [email protected]
We've had the HL2 preload ready for days now but have decided not to release it quite yet while we get CS:S stabilized. While we got few bugs from the cybercafe beta, once we extended it to people with crappy machines and screwed up hardware configurations, we realized that we need to make Source work with the crappy hardware our average customer has. That shadow bug is starting to chafe me. Oh yeah, we're securing the preload so that 12 year old girls can't get into it and spoil the whole game.

So, we'll release the preload on August 26th. IS THAT FRIKKIN OK WITH YOU?!?!?!?!? We won't miss that one! Sure of it.

regards,
gabe

</STOP MADE UP CRAP>
So there you heard it. August 26th. My guess is as at least as good as Valve's.

You guys really need to learn. In future don't believe a release date set by Valve unless:

a. Gabe Newell himself posts on the hl2fallout forums the same day something's due 'just to confirm' it's due.

b. He answers an e-mail from a fan to again confirm that 'somethings due'

c. You look out of your window, and pigs are flying down the road.

Man my guy shoots like a girl, it just drops right at his feet most of the time, heh.

yes i think there is. Duke Nukem Forever is the current record holder.

That's funny, Seeing as I'm here stuck without CS-Source because I refuse to buy the same regurgitated shit I've been playing since 1998. I preordered HL2-Ce, so don't tell me I don't deserve to be playing CS-S and be happy with what you have. It's more than me.

That video was hilarious!!! Well, I don't think you can call it a video, it was more of a sound file with some slideshow playing...

I can't recall the link... Can someone post it?

ya I really suck at that game too,
its like you know you have to pee in the toilet
but it ends up all over the floor and on your trousers.

Are we sure it was delayed?
I mean is anypart of the world still on monday,
not even some south pacific island where they have 1 really long mondaY and no teus?

valve's PR is really annoying.

Maybe before the game comes out they'll announce if the rumors of half life2 production are true :p

For all you know they're delaying again for a good (read: happy) reason. Something like: "Well, sorry we're a few days late, but we figured we might as well let you all preload the full game and we'll have it activated in a week when it hits stores."

Heh, what are the chances of that though, eh? ;)

It's getting to the point where you can't even trust Gabe when he makes a gold release announcement. :rolling:

Except I doubt he'd make a false Gold announcement, since the publisher is involved in that, also :)
