Strange red texture on Alyx's hair?

I noticed this a long time ago, but didn't turn much attention, until today, while replaying the game (!again!) with commentary track on. I stopped and turned on to Alyx, just to take another closer look at her (In these moments i regret my lack of a better videocard, as mine is a St0NeAgE one, lol, but not for long...).
So, i hope someone will have an idea where this red spot comes from. Is it just my 18th century AVG, or it's something normal?

As normal as it may be, it is a very obvious color error (as hard as it may sound, but 'bug' is not the right word to use) in such a great model. Not that i'm criticizing anything (i simply cannot!), it is just quite noticeable.

PS: Notice the small scar on Alyx's right eyebrow.

It's a reference to the fact that the original Alyx concept had bright red hair. It's supposed to be there. I didn't actually notice it until the first screenshots of Episode 1 where released.

I also don't like they changed her eyecolor to such unrealistic green, brown was much more realistic and common color. And besides, Gordon also has green eyes...nothing new here.

There are only very few concept art pictures.

If you're interested in this stuff you should pick up Raising the Bar, a book about the development of HL2. You'll find those pictures as well as many others and lots of cool information.

Seems it's normal judging by other responses. New shampoo, highlight, blood? Anyway she still has awful fashion sense. :upstare:

Fashion? It's a war, there's no time about fashion. All her style is created to represent practicality. And, speaking personally, with the mix between urban military style combined with modern elements i find Alyx quite pretty and charming (as a NPC model, of corse, lol, no hard feelings).

Its been discussed already, she has streaks in her hair when there is a war on, ok big deal, its about this time that you just declare it a game and get on with it.

It's not about that i'm getting too picky or something. It's just the fact is so obvious that i doubt Valve would just miss it, so, this hairspot must be put there with purpose.

I don't consider it too obvious. I mean, you really have to look at it to see it. You've even zoomed in. It's either highlights, or blood. I mean, she has spent approximately a week (If not much more) in combat, and without clean water to clean it off, whether it be the blood or highlights.

I zoomed in just to make it clear to see. And this spot is noticeable even on the EP2 wallaper.
After all, I think this will stay unanswered, but i highly doubt this is blood.

Yes, I believe she had red hair in the E3 demo. Missing Information mod recreated it:

Dyed, Alyx propably found a can of old hair dye while rummaging through the scrap yard or scavenging in the wastes and decided to try it.

Of course, when Eli saw his daughter wearing eye-plucking red, he nearly got a heart attack.

So, now Alyx only has a few highlights left

The reason why MI put that skin of Alyx there is because they do not want little peeps stealing their work. As quoted from them in their 'Gabe's love tub' forum, wierd name for a forum.

That skin of Alyx with the fire red hair isn't the E3 Alyx, there was 2 versions of E3: the current version & the jump suit version, eventually the jump suit was cut primarily because of the fact that it was cliched in a sense. Which only left the current one.
