striders... again :( sorry

yea... i know it's been beaten into the ground at least a hundred times... but...

about those striders.

doesn't it seem like their legs are a little thin/long? if there's one thing i've learned from being a tall lanky guy, it's that if people punch you in the knees it hurts and you fall over. granted, i don't have three legs, i think that even if i did, i'd still get hurt and fall over if someone punched me in the back of the knees.

now... as for taking down a strider... doesn't it seem logical with physics/momentum being implimented that hitting a strider in the 'knees' should knock it over? or am i just on crack and is this going to just get deleted because it's about the billionth strider post???

No because we don't know if it actually "hurts" them. They are part mechine and part organic. We don't know what parts though.

And think about it, if you nock one leg out from under them, they've still got 2 to balance on untill they get the other back in place.

That would seem logical, but we won't know till it's out. Will we?

And by the way, things aren't "deleted". They are moved to a different section of the forums that they might call the "trash bin" or somthing to the same efect. I don't know why it bothers me when someone says they "delete" somthing, but it just does..

I didn't mean it would take them out... just knock them over. It seems like with momentum, that would make sense. But then again, they did mention that you don't actually get knocked down... and it seems like you don't knock down enemies by leg shots (ie the zombie in trap town that gets shot in the leg with a shotgun at close range... that'd knock me down i'm fairly sure.)

hrmmm... i wonder if entities can get knocked down...
 
This game needs to be released soon, we are running out of things to discuss.

And yeah, it's a kicking based style of self defense (mainly)

I did it for... 4 years or so. It's decent
 
There legs maybe thin..but they can kick a car a long ways away!

Three legs is the best design for stability anyway (look at stools etc.)

Notice the striders legs are made out of super armor meant for battle. Ever notice it?
 
Personally, I'm glad we didn't get to see a Strider crash and burn in any of the E3 videos from this year or last year. I don't want to know how to kill it before I play the game. I want to figure it out myself; it'll be that much more satisfying.
 
Tae kwon doe is more sport than self defense though, just thought you should know.



I'm happy they didn't show off pwned striders too, I definitly want to experience that my self..

I did do it. Not any more sadly. I had to move and there is no camp in the area now.

And hell yes it is good for self defence. Its one of the best I have done so far as far as street defence goes.

Might have something to do with the fact that the guy who was teaching us was a former world champ from thai land! :p Name was Master lec. Lec being his second name. I cant even pronounce his first name anymore let alone spell it. lol



I have done various other things too, tai kwon do included. (Which was a joke where i went...)




Anyway! On topic. I have said it before and I will say it again. I am gona climb a tall building... jump on the striders nonce and bash it with meh crowbar!!!! :thumbs:

Anyways, I support the idea they are kind of bio-mech - seeing as they have guns and all ...
 
yeah, we have no clue how they are built or whatever. for all we know the legs are made from an uber strong compound, not dried spaghetti strings.

Wouldn't it be funny though, if you like, had to put something slippery on the ground and watch 'em do a cartoon style slip and slide to the ground to kill em? I mean, those legs might be strong but it doesn't look like they have much traction or grip on what they are stepping on.

Or maybe you have to try to arch an explosive to hit them right on top of their heads as their weak spot. would be difficult as they are so damn tall.

tell me, what exactly makes you think they are organic at all... in detail, with evidance...
 
they look organic.

And that cannon of theirs, moves in an organic manner :p
 
They have musculature, leg hairs and extremely organic-looking bits. Look at the screenshots and the concepts.

imo seems obvious you have to take out their legs. The way they're jointed only at the knee and not at the heel means they wouldn't be able to get up. Also, stools are very sturdy but you'd be hard pressed to see one of those 2legged milking stools standing on its own. If you have a balance based around three points equally taking the weight it's easier to knock it down than to remove one leg from a biped (certainly where a striders concerned). Like i said this is all imo :rolling:
