i think you have to get to the hole in a wall. than get to the bareers backwards.

If you're in the place I think you are, there's a doorway to your left- you go in & follow the path 'till you emerge the other side of the barrier.
Enemies will start coming from the doorway above/behind the barrier.
You can open the barrier from the the inside.
