I'm where the pods travel across to a light-beam.

Get inside one of the pods by going up to it and pressing your "use" key. Make sure you get inside the one that doesn't lead to the light-beam.

Also ensure that while you're travelling you do not press your jump button, as that can cause a major bug once you get outside of it.
