I turned the settings on to a high resolution my monitor does not support. Now , everytime I start the game my monitor will blink orange. I cant access the options to change the settings back. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled hl2 and it still happens. Is there a config file I can change or a key on the keyboard that scrolls through the diff resolutions?

My mate had this problem, he fixed it by putting a command in the desktop shortcut (or in hl2 properties on steam). It was something like: -height "800" and -width "600" if you wanted 800x600. I'll go look it up and get back to you....

Ahh, just found this post for CSS, might work for Hl2:

You change the resolution manually.
Start -> Run (type regedit)

At [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Source\cstrike\settings]
You will find in here ScreenHeight and ScreenWidth. Height is the smaller of the two numbers of the resolution.

To edit the keys, right click on one and select Modify.

In the popup menu, select, in the Base section, Decimal.

Once you have done that you can change the number to correct width/height of the resolution.

For example:
change ScreenWidth to 640
change ScreenHeight to 480

But of course, dont go the cstrike settings, find the hl2 ones.

Woah, and also found the command line things: -w WIDTH -h HEIGHT So like -w 1024 -h 768 Sorry for all the posts, hope something works.
