Alrighty, well, I'm in Nova Prospekt at the garbage squisher things (the giant steel walls that close off segment by segment) and I can't figure out where to go from here. A gut feeling tells me when they put one explosive barrel in an area, it's usually used.. any help appreciated

The "garbage squisher" is actually the combine, a living machine. The obvious answer is that you need to get out of there. The immediate answer is, how?

There should be an opening in the rock face to the left. You may need to use a box to reach it.
