i pre ordered hl2 in july and had the reciept sit in my wallet.
egarly awaiting sept 30
yet when it passed by, i forgot about it in my wallet with the collection of many other papers.
bad idea
i pulled it out and all the ink had worn off
and to top it off when i went to eb to see if i could still use it they didnt record my name properly in the data base so i might be hooped $70.

damn wallet adn eb make me so mad

That sucks, but it is their fault for not recording your name properly.

EB should have a copy of it. I used to work at an EB, so tell them to check the brown envelope, which the manager keeps, and the reciept should be in there. Hopefully you know which day you preordered it to make it easier for the manager to track down. Regardless, when the game comes in, when they recieve it, it automatically says there are preordered items within this shipment, and they print out the reciepts. If they are good, they'll tape the reciept to a copy of the game and put it in the back. so no worries.

In the UK, EB which is now game store it all on ur GAME card.

I never knew that, they really store it on your GAME store reward card, I'll have to pre-order my HL2" now

i cant stand EB. best prices my ass.

they are in my town, giving me the deluxe version of hl2 fro $70 where other places rage form 80-100. saves me 10-30 $ im happy

Moral of the story: take more care of pieces of paper worth $70?

Nether, you wait till it goes gold and you can tell me how easy getting the game will be.

Umm I have no idea what you just said

its called GAME in uk not EB. Game have a card you use to have money off etc. it holds all of your information etc

You didn't actually pay EB any money did you?..

For those saying EB doesn't have the best prices...they DO PRICE MATCH. How could you not know that?

I still have my receipt :)

Also, you should not have paid the whole $70 for a pre-order, you should only put down the minimum amount, which is usually $5

Yeah, but then when you go in to get it you've gotta carry all that cash with you. And then when you get up to the counter to collect your preordered game, what happens if you're short $5? :O

price match is a stupid idea. its a con to make people think they are getting the best price, "why would EB put those stickers on if they didnt back themselves as having the best prices already", that is the logic they expect people to use. if i wanted price match, i would go to the shop where it is cheaper, because they are being honest about it.
EB just stinks.

I guarantee you this game will not sell-out the first day it's released. PC games NEVER sell out. Not even Warcraft III or Diablo 2 sold out when they were first released.

PC games are not as popular as Console games on first release.

but HL2 is no ordinary PC game.

still i don't like the thought of spending money on somthing that uncertain, when it comes out, I'll buy it.

Maybe where you live, but in Canada, every EB i've been to, it has been nothing but great service. None of this stupid eb employs that don't know anything. People shop at EB because half the time, it's the only place where you can get the games for a good price. Wal Mart and Superstore and Futureshop can't touch it. And if a customer comes in holding a flyer that has Futureshops price and it's lower, we match it. Sometimes people don't have the time to drive a cross the city just to pick up a game, and if they like the store, then they go there. Until you actually work retail, especially EB, I wouldn't comment on whether price match is stupid or not.

I remember Neverwinter Nights and Max Payne 2 selling out. I had to wait. :flame:

Letters, I don't know if a HL2 forum newb like me has the authority to say something like this, but your evil whoopi goldberg avatar creeps me out.

:( :borg:

...that's not Whoopi, that's..

Anyhow.. lol, I still say preordering online is better.. you never have to leave your house, AND, you don't get charged until the product ships! win win situation :)

Haha, yes... 'tis babies... only since I had the nutrigrain bars shoved down my throat she turned all evil and stuff. See Mr. Redundant for what she really looks like. And watch the video! :)

It will always be whoopi to me, unfortunately. I can't not think of anything else, even after seeing the silly commercial.

:( :borg:

I hope you put more info then your first name when you pre ordered for 70 bucks worth, just because they cant figure out the name you should tell them to track your phone number and address if you didnt write down the info for them you really cant even blame it on your wallet now can you ?

Looks like Letters is going to win the creepy evil avatar award
