This problem is characterized by a sudden massive drop in frame rate when turning corners or moving into new areas of the game. These drops are usually accompanied by looping or stuttering sound during the frame rate drop which is how most people become aware of the problem. Aside from these isolated drops in frame rate, the game is otherwise perfectly smooth. These sudden drops kill the immersion and lead to a very frustrating experience. Below you will find additional details on this problem, some theories, and all responses from Valve on this problem.

This is the problem i have.
Who has this problem?
I will not play HL2 because this problem ruins the game.
In CS:S and HL2DM it only occurs in the first few rounds, then it is non existant.

th3Phallex get rid of your stupid signature, it screws up the stupid window and takes all the joy out of reading these forums. why are people still allowed to spam with their sigs????

Are you serious not a big deal? Did you even look at the poll? 37% of voters have issues.
I swear.....people like you... :sniper:

Let's keep things in perspective: at the time of this post, that "37% of voters" represents 66 people. The sample group is far, far too small and random and the poll question too vague for us to draw any meaningful conclussions.

It's suppose to be "vauge" If I start saying, well everyone do you stutter only when the game loads, when your turn a corner, look up, look down, look left, look right, have your setting on high, medium, low, when your AA is off, on, when AF is on high, medium, low, if your computer sucks, if your computer rocks, if you have virus protection on, if you have it off, if your computer is on, if it is off, when you go to the bathroom, when your washing your car, when your eating, when your breathing, when you have a power outage, when steam is running, when your using the cracked version, only when a friend is over, only when he turns his back, only after the last steam update.....lol

That is why I said, do you stutter only. If you are able to make a post or better yet, install the game, you should be able to distinguish the difference between a good running game that does not stutter and one that does. If you start adding in all these varibles then there goes the poll.

I see. So the poll is deliberately designed to encourage skewed results. Thanks for clearing that up.

everyones situation is different
plus it is clearly a problem

my situation is i finished the game without a hitch and in offline mode
after downloading a steam update i found that i could no longer play offline and i had severe stuttering in audio and frames per second

suxxor :frown:

If you can't vote to "Yes I have stuttering" or "No I don't" then don't vote. There is no more to add to that. It's a yes or no question, nothing else.

This is exactly how it is with me. I've got 2.3ghz xp-m, 512mb ddr450, 6800GT (66.93), 7200rpm 160gb hd and sb live 5.1. It doesn't matter whether I use full or minimum details with AA/AF or no AA/AF, it stutters anyway. I'm positive I don't have any virii or spyware on my comp, I've defragged my HD and tried running the game without overclocking any components, but nothing seems to help. :/

I have the studdering. It happens in the same spots for me. i disabled auto-save. just pauses for like 1/8 sec. really annoying.

Since I updated, the stuttering went away, however it wasn't that bad in the first place :p
