So Ive been reading through the book since it arrived yesterday and Im blown away by what ideas Valve had and lack of impimentation they actually did.

Possibly the most interesting and story based paragraphs I found;

"The basic idea is to convey the passage of time between HL and HL2 visually, using our new terrin and shader effects and the teleport tricks we using in the original test chamber disaster sequence. It should be a direct contiuation on the end of HL: You are still in the gmans custody and control, still basically suspended outdside normal spacetime, which makes it fairly easy to say that 10 years have passed in what for you is the blink of an eye."

So there you have it, we are infact stuck in that room until the Gman calls upon us :)

no, you are in suspended animation, this is already widely accepted as the correct version of events

Are you arguing with Valves own script?

cool, is the room good?, does it have a fridge, or what about a couch?? does it have a couch!?!?!?!?!?

the g-man suspends freeman in a warp in time, meanwhile earthtime continues as normal but the warp only is like a few minutes to freeman. the book sounds very interesting and i might get it myself.

it is true wat u said though, in the game valves intensions dont seem to work out, it dosent feel like it follows on from black mesa too well. they dont use enough of the story as wat they could from HL

Ok buddy...

So it seems you were "stuck" in that room for approximately 2 blinks of an eye (1/15 of a second or 4 heartbeats). With that short a period of time, it probably doesn't matter whether you were in stasis or not, since you wouldn't have time to realize realize that you were even in there in the first place, let alone that you were stuck.

I'm still waiting for my raising the bar to arrive =(.
It looks like this book is pretty essential to fully understand the story.

Hell yeah, Ive emailed erik johnson on why so much of the story was cut, especially gmans speeches.

Gordon's is OUTSIDE normal space-TIME. The operatiive words being "outside" "time," thus he doesn't age, and intervening years pass in the blink of an eye. He's not just in a dark room, standing around holding his dick for a decade.

the stasis is like sleep, from the moment you fall asleep at night to the first time you open your eyes in the morning feels like it has been a very short time, maybe a few minutes at most, but really it has been hours. Of course since Gordon is suspended in time, he does not age.

The problem I have with this is that when some of the NPC's meet Gordon, they're like 'Gordon Freeman, didn't expect to see you here!', not 'OMG we thought you were dead OMG LOL'. If he's a big an icon as the game implies, surely they'd make more of a fuss if he's been presumed away/dead for 10 years.

I thought we already knew this without reading the book? At least I did...
