... because their website isn;t easily accessible by the blind. Apparently surfing the internet for good deals is a prominent pasttime among the blind.

I can certainly understand what they're going for, but it also seems slightly over the top that business would have to change their website to accomidate everyone. Still, knowing a few blind people, I think they should be given the same opportunities as everyone else. And yes, I saw the act that was passed, but this seems like a very specialized case.

boohoo big corporation has to comply with accessibility laws ..wonder how many targets have wheelchair ramps, etc

I dont feel sorry for them, they make wads of cash, they could accomodate some of their less fortunate customers ..although it's really not surprising since you americans seem to sue everything under the sun, no matter how mundane/rediculous it may be

Wait, wait... can someone explain to me how the blind use the internet? :O

Hmm, interesting.

No doubt it's hard navigating flash objects?

well they use mostly blind enabled internet sites ..also the term "blind" is sort of misleading ..few people are totally blind, many can see some objects or pin points of light ..or so my nurse mother in law tells me

Ah so you mean people like me when they take their glasses off? :P

Ah yeah, that's true. I remember hearing about someone being "blind", but they could recognise parts of the human face.

Seems someone is out to make tons of money easily...

Pointless lawsuits ftw.

Its the suit part thats ridiculous, not the request to make it blind-person compatible. That said, this is almost certainly going to be settled outside of court, probably due to Target making the site accessable. Because once thats done whats the point of the suit?

I'm suing HL2.net, for not having enough pornographic material to suit the needs of chronic masturbators that would still like to stay up-to-date on HL2 news.

I'm sueing you for alleged sexual harassment in the internet public.

Suing someone because their website isn't blind-accessible is like suing a construction company because you were denied a job because you have no ****ing arms.

EDIT: Yes, that was bad, but you get it.

I'm sueing all the websites that don't provide subtitles for all audible messages said within movie or flash files for the deaf.

I have NEEDS!! AM I NOT A HUMAN BEING? WILL I NOT BLEED WHEN I WANK TOO HARD?! DO I NOT CRY WHEN YOU MOCK ME WITH WORDS LIKE 'RAPIST' AND 'PERV'?

;(

I got Alien Cancer and FULL BLOWN AIDS from HL2.net and I will sue

Ummm, 200 posts kthx gtfo my forum

I USED TO HAVE 5000 POSTS JUST SO THIS DOESN'T LOOK LIKE A NUB BASHING A NUB

Yeah, pff, 200, gtfo.

Anyway, yeah, this suage is dumb. LOL SUAGE.

I'm sorry, what? I can't hear you over my ENORMOUS PENIS.

wtf are you talking about? That was awesome.

Reminds me of that lawsuit years ago. Some guy in a wheelchair sued a strip club because they didn't have wheelchair access to their "VIP" rooms. He won too, can't remember the amount he got.

I have had the pleasure of friendship with a woman who is blind. She uses a screen reader and it reads back commands in voice.

I was just amazed when I first met her. We were playing a text game, and It was early in the friendship she mentioned to me that she was blind. I would have never been able to tell... why? Because she was responding to everything I did fast, plus her role-playing abilities and spelling skills were superb.

I told her that if she never made the mention she was blind, I wouldn't have known.

NOTE: She doesn't use a braille keyboard. She uses an actual keyboard that you and me use. She can basically envision it in her mind, and type away perfectly on it. And it's not like she has memory of using one from before she was blind... as she lost her sight at a young age.

Uh, like all of them? Have you ever been to a Target?

But this is pretty...I don't know whether to say crazy or what. I mean, if Target makes their website more accessible then by all means that's great, but I'm sure that they just never took into account that blind people use the internet. In fact if Raziaar hadn't just explained it I'd never think that blind people use the internet either. It's blowing my mind. Handicapable indeed.

Indeed. In all honesty I had no idea blind people even existed until this thread!

Uhh... does this really require a lawsuit?

I mean, come on. I highly doubt there was a meeting between the bigwigs at Target where they all sat around some giant marble table in a skyscraper, the head honcho said "**** the handicapped", and all the underlings silently nodded their head in approval.

Yes but asking politely and giving the other guy the benefit of the doubt is not the American way.

I'm blind, so I can tell you right now that this is utterly retarded.

Speaking of which, the website is also not fully accessible to highly retarded people.

Since I am also deaf and have nerve issues with my skin, I demand that I be able to buy affordable slacks using only my tongue and my accute sense of smell.

Tastes like a bargain!

This is retarded. No one should have to make a website geared towards any specific group. It's almost as bad as suing a Spanish website because I don't speak Spanish and can't navigate their site. It's not like they have to shop at the Target site ... I mean how much time was this guy spending on the Target website before he just got fed up and decided to sue? Seriously, blind people aren't supposed to be using the internet anyway.

Hell, what if Target just hates blind people because they're annoying and smell bad and just didn't want them to use their website? How is that a problem? You should be able to do whatever the **** you want with a privately owned website.

That's one of the things that piss me off about America, people getting away with incredibly frivolous lawsuits. This is nowhere near as bad as the stupid bitch who sued McDonalds because she spilled coffee on herself.

never believe mother in laws, no matter what.
