...maybe next monday?
maybe 11:59 and 59seconds tonight.
did they actually say which monday?
next monday as in next next monday?

because it's definately going on 7:00pm here and nothing, i got a steam update screen for a fraction of a second, but no pre-load.

i'm not feeling this preload here.... what do you guys think?

if they were really ready, WOULD they wait until so friggin late to start preloading?

Wasn't it 7pm PST? Valve is located in Seattle you know. In which case you have another 3 1/2 hours to wait.

Its still 3:32PM Pacific Time so we should wait a few more hours.

It's still about 3 hours from when I expect it start Preloading. It's definately not approaching 6/7pm PDT.

What time zone are you in?

/me sighs

i figured pple would know this by now.. but anyway ever notice how pre-loads start at 6PM or 7PM PDT...meaning it generally starts later for most pple.

right now its around 3:30PM for Valve.. so don't be expecting it for at least another 2-3 hours.

CS:S both preloaded and unlocked in Valve's evening afaik. So don't worry, there's still hours to go.

i live in north carolina, and no it isn't 7, but it's nearing it. I just assumed they would maybe put it up early, like 12:00pm or something. i didn't realize it was only 3pm for them, but isn't that a good time to start preloading anyway?

well, at least there are no delay messages, i mean, if they delayed now, wow, imagine the backlash here.

My theory is, Most of them probbally leave work around 5-6 pst, and steam usage begins to rapidly decline later in the day as you can see from the status graphs around 1800.

Backlash? Why the heck would anyone care really? It's not like you can do anything with the preload.

QUIET HERETIC.

Exactly.

nutrino, you obviously were not here around sept 30th last year.

Yes, I was. That was completely different though. The game was suppose to come out then, which would mean people could play it. But now it's just a preload that you cannot play and a delay has absolutely no negative consequences for anyone since there is nothing you can do with the files that are being preloaded. So I don't see how anyone could have any legitimate serious complaints if it was indeed delayed. I could understand some general annoyance, but not some sort of large backlash.

the more valve misses their dates they set, the more it annoys, thats why many would like to see hl2 preload today, it would be the first time that something tangible related to hl2 would be done on a set date.

A lot of people base events off of principle, the fact that the lie of a preload exists would be enough to tick most people off. Causing them to hate valve.

In general events around the world, it's the stupidest thing that people focus on to tear down something of it's pride and respect, believe me, delaying a preload would be enough for half these people to go insane.

Remember, not all people are logical, not all people are easy going, majority of the people out in the world are overexadurating, lieing, dishonest and care for no one but themselves, leading them to be the type of person that wants something at the moment and not a second later.

This doesn't apply to everyone obviously, i'm just making a point.

People would backlash. I guarantee it.

I understand what your trying to say, but it really doesn't stand up very well when you consider that they already delayed the preload. It was originally suppose to come out last week. Seeing as how everyone is still here, there wasn't any big backlash, and no one is insane, I doubt this time would be any different.

AMEN! All these people acting like a delay of 5 days or so in the preloading of textures and sounds is the end of the world are driving me crazy. Valve's got their priorities straight. Getting the benchmark out last week will get us a lot closer to gold than this preload. Sure, this is a milestone, but the affect it has on getting the release date closer to us is pretty miniscule.

Yeah, but it was only until monday, so naturally people wouldn't mind a couple days, i'm sure a years delay would have caused some insanity.

I'm sure we are both 50/50, depends on the length of the delay really, not to mention that simply most people arn't logical about everything.

As a completely unrealated side-note i have HERETIC tattooed down my leg. :)

And while I think there WOULD be a bit of a "backlash". But it's not really like anyone is going to do anything about it. I mean, what can you do? Valve has everyone by the balls because they know that even our great-grandmothers would kill people with thier bare hands to get to this game. They're going to make their money no matter what. Gabe could hold a press conference and simply say,"Piss on you. Piss on all you nerds," and we would all still buy the game. You know it, I know it, and VALVe knows it.

Once this HL2 preload starts (textures/audio), then it won't be but another 1-2weeks until they announce HL2 GOLD. If they are about to make this much progress by preloading a little of HL2, then the wait is very near, id say mid-late September.

Don't take it out of context.

This is the latest in a long line of delays. It past the point of sheer ridiculousness a long, long time ago.

I'm sorry. Could someone else repeat and rephrase what someone else has already said a couple more times. I don't think this thread has had enough.

did you mean to say 'almighty ass face'? lol

edit: ahhh you edited your post

lol, yeah, well, i figured it was too mean what i said and changed it, lol.

^_^;

On thing is still quite unclear to me: can anybody with Steam preload the HL2 content or is it limited to those who were able to play CS:S?

VALVE IS IN SEATTLE, WASHINGTON USA. GMT -8. THIS MEANS THAT IT IS 5:35PM RIGHT NOW WHERE THEY ARE. IT IS CUSTOM FOR THEM TO RELEASE STUFF AROUND 6 OR 7.

It's coming today.

I'm 99% sure it's for everybody. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Why does it matter, exactly? A release date hasn't even been mentioned, yet. Are you all so eager to stare at a functionless file for a month? Or more?

Another delay, now unexpected.

Come on guys, it's just a preload. As long as you don't plan to hack those files, you get nothing out of them except the satisfaction that you have a small piece of HL2 on your computer.
