Anyone into Techno? I, personally, absolutely love it. Good beats, some dark, some light, just music to chill to. I'm currently listening to "Bass Drive" on iTunes... sooo good... tune in if you like techno.

Suddenly I don't value your opinion anymore, how strange.
a Strange indeed since there were no opinions in that post.
b Thats funny coming from someone who doesnt even value fact.
c I couldnt care less.

Again, I can only reiterate. The word "techno" has become a common and largely accepted term in reference to all forms of electronic music. Wether or not its accurate in the context of the genre's history is irrelevant at this point, as it just is. Much in the same way that "faggot" has turned into an recognized derogatory term for homosexuals. The meaning behind words changes over time.

For all intents and purposes, it is likely that the topic creator was not referring to your oh-so-specific subgenre, but electronic music in general. You could have let that slide, but you instead decided to get all anal about it.

Indeed, all I meant was the electronic genre (techno) ... all the exact sub-genres I don't care about. Techno is techno. And said techno is awesome.

I think I have recently realised that MOST of the Aphex Twin songs I like are the drum and bass type. But that doesn't mean I don't like the other kinds, such as ambient, and I sometimes do like the songs that Reaktor4 posted; by "Meh" I meant not EXACTLY my alley, but It's still pretty good music.

Im not talking about the genres history. What im talking about, what the samples were, is modern techno, you numpty. Doesnt matter what it was years ago, thats what it is today. Also it doesnt matter how many clueless people misuse the word, theyre all wrong. They have not changed the meaning. But if they did, where does that leave all us techno lovers? We have to make up a new name for our music because of these annoying awkward ****s who refuse to use the word properly? Get to ****.
After years and years of hearing it, it starts to get just a tad irritating (no, not techno, smartass). Btw, if you think im the only one who gets pissed off by this, you have no idea at all. Go ahead and post that on tranceaddict or somewhere and see how anal i am.
Lets leave it at this: Im right and anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong, and will of course continue to be wrong.. theyre human after all. Thats what humans do. Like ive said before many times, almost always if someones believed something long enough, instead of doing that thing called learning when taught what is right by someone who knows better, they refuse to accept it and jam their fingers in their ears.
This is getting old. In future ill stick to music boards where people know what theyre talking about.
One last thing, dont take anything ive said too personally. :)

You don't need to change the label. Just accept the alternative definition as valid in this day and age (which it is). People with a degree of sense will be able to differentiate between the two.

Humans are fallible. Meaning changes. That's the way of the world.

I have no doubt in my mind that there are many people that think like you do. I disagree with just as well.

(I personally don't use the term "techno", but that's rather non-issue. And at the very least, you could have just gone with the intention of the topic instead of going into a snobbish rant. :\ )

What exactly do you use Absinthe? I'm sick of saying techno all the time for things like Aphex Twin.

This is my last post in this forum. It is not valid, it is annoying, asking you to call it edm is not unreasonable and makes things not confusing. But forget i ever said anything and call it what you like.

Most people would refer to Aphex Twin as IDM (intelligent dance music), but I don't like that title because it sounds pretentious.

For the entire genre, I usually just term it electronica. When we reduce it, I can recognize DnB, Speedcore, House, and all that jazz. But for stuff like Aphex, I find labelling to be a chore and not worth the effort.
For instance, what would I call Squarepusher? There's a distinct Drum n Bass flavor, but the beats are far more spastic, alternating, and complex than anything conventional. There's a jazzy element to it as well, courtesy of his bass playing skills. Would I call it a hybrid? Some tracks completely forego electronic instrumentation. Some of it is so far removed from DnB that I don't know what to call it.

In the end, I'll just call it "experimental" or something like that.

Braindance, drill'n'bass, drill'n'acid. But mostly braindance works for all of "idm".

Please... do not relate sweet innocent techno to demonic beast that was disco.

Thank God that's dead.

Raves play only one type of techno. Please read some of the big posts made in this thread before you join the ranks of those who don't know. Let alone critisize it.

ravers listen to trance primarily, or ardkore shit. also... raves are pretty sweet and innocent, everyone's hugging and dancing and loving because they're all e'd up.

Happy Hardcore... That's innocent... Kinda...

BTW anybody interested in all the different subgenres should give this look-through.

http://www.di.fm/edmguide/edmguide.html

Take some of it with a grain of salt, as the author has a tendency to get cheeky. :) Has multiple audio clips for each genre as well.

7 pages..I'll just not read and say
I love techno.

Thank you.

I remember wipeout having good techno music, anyway here is al ink to where you can see which songs it had.
