Its going to be intresting what you guys desighn when this is released i cant waite to see the work produced.!

Its acctualy got me thinking about cracking MAx back out and giveing the modeling scene ago again.:naughty:
 
we should have a modeling comp for tf2 or somthin i would be down:p
 
It's gonna be interesting fun to map for I think.
 
hopefully more people read this post , we would need to come p with an idea for what the comp. would have and what we would need to make.
 
Should be a map contest if anything...
 
we could do a prop contest maps take months to make! it would nto get alot of entrants and hardly anyone would be able to finish.
 
Sounds cool so I'd be up for it seeing as I havn't been posting any of my work in here for a while.

i was thinking along the lines of this:

valve has updated the look of tf2 they jave shown us the characters and a segment of a map , with this new information it is set upon you to design and model our favourite little bugger the sentry gun for the engineer you can choose from its 3 phases small medium and huge! what do you guys think? if oyu have any ideas for as topic please post.

also we need to have a poly limit and texture map limit?and if any hl2.net staff want to hlep make this into an official contest that would be awesome, maybe even get valve to throw up some prizes for us:p kinda like the contest ove at hlfallout that they had awhile ago :p well im awaiting you responses.
 
Would it need to be animated too?
I could probably model something rudimentary, but I can't do animation quite yet.
 
yeah you dont have to animate it :p just like make it aprop model thisy but if do want to animate it tha would be cool too.

The ideas ive been haveing are these.

Keep the player models in the same Pixar sort of style. (saying that we could cammo them up but keep the features big like the weapons over sized ect).

The maps...god..with this sort of graphics style it would just look amazing.:rolling:

The contest is a nice idea, but i can't join in, since i'm way too busy with off limits atm :/ Otherwise i would have joined, since i like the idea of modeling/texturing a character cartoon style

Model what ever you like maps or player models.
Just make it TF2 related Pixar style, with plenty of colour.

I haven't really played TFC before, so I guess I should reinstall it to get an idea of what could be created.

So it would be like, remake a character or somthing.. sounds kind of cool to be fair.

Can't wait to play it...Maybe model some more to fill the gap.
So maps and characters are allowed...And they must be modelled...no sketches, or as WIP. I have an idea for a map. I launched the idea beforehttp://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=109878. THe characters are miniature toys and the map is a house. Lot's of possible action there...Like micromachines was cool, wasn't it?
And do some character to...Or maybe just the sketching...never did a char before.
Hope I find time and inspiration...

BTW I model in RHino...Can export to 3ds and lots of other extensions. Can I export it to source? Need to check in on it...long nights ahead ;)

Back allready, with some sketch for my character.

for my playable character I wanted to go for an acrobat that swings alongs ropes. Will be tough to code, I know, but a guy may dream...
Would be quite usefull in my "bigger-than-life-house". Someone who can climb walls and hang on ceilings. help the teammates get in the window on the second floor.
Choices are: Female (cyber)ninja, Macho Mexican Trapeze artist, Lumber Jack from Canada or some crazy-dude freeclimber...Maybe I''ll sketch all of them and then decide...Or you guys. So please comment and critisize...

Don't know about the modelling of this char though. Never did one. A Level can be done (I think ;) )...We'll see...In the meantime Enjoy...

I had a go at putting the brief case turret idea together in my spare time, just needs skinning in the right style and rigging properly for source.

I hope I can do that some day, time will tell...First I'm modelling some props for my level. Did some sketches and this is the first. A washing machine or a death trap??? ;)

I know, I'm not :hmph: And I really must make lots of more props. I plan to do a kitchen and a livingroom for starters. First the modelling part. Hope I can import my files into Source. We'll see...TF2 doesn't arrive till february

Off course help is always appreciated ;)
 
they're nice but most of them look a bit highpoly for "props".

A small update some of my 'props' in a kitchen. So moder: "they arent actual props" ;). The plan is to have them with full physics and such. So drawers, doors can be opened, knobs can be pushed and rotated. Activating something like the stove, oven or blender in the drain. Windows become deadly traps and don't get trapped in the fridge ;) I hope lots of things could be done to the environment and thus creating new routes and traps...We'll see...I guy can dream no

Another small update in the toys-project... another 5 cents maybe it'll inspire some people :dozey:

This is a concept for a new weapon. It's a 'balloon'gun. actually it'll be a inflated capsule-gun...You'll see when it's finished ;)

The models look cool but i carn't work out how you have rendered those wireframes, i cant tell where your pollys are or weathre they are being wasted or not! It dose look abit wastful on the toy thing but to say its hard to tell.

I didn't quite understand what you're saying bt I think you are reffering to the wireframes and noticed that they don't always represent poly's, yes?
That's why all the above models are modelled and shaded in Rhinoceros. -A Nurbs-surfacing program-
model in Rhino because its my preferred modeller. I hate 3dstudio, really do...Rhino is simple yet very very powerfull. With Rhino I can export to 3ds-format and I do think there's a convertor for 3ds to Xsi, no? I do hope so otherwise I'm in trouble. We'll see where all of this ends...we'll see
