I wanted to start a discussion thread about the new video which should be released sometime today. Here's what we know about it so far. According to DimitriPopov in this thread:
[The] video is called Traptown, its the part of the e3 videos where he pushes the table infront of the door, kills the guy with the radiator, then kills more guys with an I-Beam and a huge trash container. Then chops zombies in half with another trap. Its gonna be awsome.
I thought I would start this thread so we can post screenshots and discuss them when the video's released. Also, I'm sure DimitriPopov is correct about the video being called Traptown, because it is the one that is shown in the Quicktime version right after Kleiner's lab (if I remember correctly). :) For anyone who's interested, here are two screenshots of the Quicktime version of the video which should be released today on Steam according to Gabe Newell. :)

Gahhhhhhh, must... have... that... video...

some one said it would be released 5 pm GMT but it's now 7:20 GMT, my HL2 media properties thing says it needs updateing but won't download anything and the video certainly hasn't appeared in the menu.

Hope they haven’t fooled us.
But Valve aren’t that kind of guys that don’t give a f*ck about their fans.

There's nothing new in the medias yet.
Damn, this video is going to be interesting: much more action and ingame features...

sweet ass, new movie, am i the only one who has steam taking up like over a gig of space?

my stem takes up 2.38gb and i only play cs 1.6. i haven't dl'ed updates for anything else except hl2 media. i have yet to see the 4th video. :(

oh my god, you're right !
the directory is 1.25Go big !
(the SteamCache is about 410Mo)

dammit you guys have it? those pix up top are sweet, such a big improvement. I just checked steam, but no dice nothing new

Ady: Are you downloading the Traptown video (the direct-feed)?

You might want to send him a private message if he's not replying. I don't think he means the Traptown video because if he's downloading it then so should I be. I have Steam too and it works perfectly fine. I'll let you guys know when it "really" starts to download something. :)

no dice here yet, does anyone know if once there done reliesing all the e3 videos will they move onto unseen content? OOOH that would be so kool

I think by the time they're done releasing all the Quicktime videos in Bink thru Steam, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero will be released and it is rumoured to have "Special HL2 Content." So I guess that's what it'll be.
Look at the top right of this pic:

Why?: Yes thats the plan weve heard from Valve

Im looking forward to this video very much , alot of new stuff , and alot of combat  x3 lol.

EDIT- Yatta posted while I was posting , I never thought about it but maybe hes right , and the new media is really in the CSCZ package , in which case I wouldnt worry because it will be on the net within a few days im sure :)

sorry about the slow reply, had to sleep. :) well my steam said it was downloading HL2 media for a few hours, but I don't have any new videos here :(

Vulva needs to release the damn video already... oops I meant Valve... ;)

the vids usually come around 4pm my time (pacific). thats in 20 minutes

I am looking at the steam monitor and nothing is happening as of yet...whatever...I will take it when it comes...I am not too anxious.

It just updated the steam platform and the steam platform files when I restarted steam...you have to ctrl+alt+delete and kill the steam.exe process then restart.

Check this out:
Now Steam forces you to have it as "Do not automically update this game." Everytime I select the "Automatically Update this Game" option, it reverts to "Do not automatically update this game." Try it yourself!

I think that's just a bug, it has been doing that to me for almost all games for a number of releases...

This option is set on "Always keep this game up to date" by default on my Steam...

try loading steam again and after it updates itself i don't think it'll be set on that anymore for your hl2 media.

Well I did that one hour ago, it updated itself, and this option is set on "Always keep this game up to date"...
You're surely right... but I don't feel like closing Steam just for fun, then reload it once again :x

Doesn't look like the media is coming out tonight. Only think I see updating is CS.

If I were to share my thoughts right now, you'd only see stars. Forum filter...:flame:

I have a good idea then: calm down.

Be like a cool dude like this guy: :afro:

Anyway if you're really having big problems with Steam, what I would do is uninstall it, delete the folder, and then reinstall the latest version on that steampowered site.

hmm, they mostly get released is about 4-5 hours...atleast the other movies where...so...dunno, i got an update to...yesterday :/
and btw check the updates, in my log it only says that the G-man demo and the Docks demo are addes...nothing about the lab

Valve is notorious for not updating their web pages and news sections. Apparently that's still true concerning the 'updates' log in steam. Valve is usually a love/hate type of company. You love them for the products they put out, but hate them for their lack of consistency on the little things that add up after a while.

well not like its that important

yeah but from a game server admin's point of view it's seriously annoying. most of the stuff on the hl ded server mailing list is gripes about the way valve is leaving admins out the cold about whatever the lastest thing is.

I just watched the full 600mb Quicktime video of HL2 E3, and I was stunned even though I had seen it twice before. The tripods are awsome... And the physics... I can't wait to see it in Bink and play it in 2 months!
