... is not the G-Man! And we will get to see him in Half-Life 2.

Any thoughts?

I hope it doesnt turn out like the matrix reloaded and all the dark conspiracy stuff suddenly gets blown open and explained (rather craply) to u by the administrator/architect.

That would suck ...

I had that idea ages ago!

It's possible, but I'm doubting it, as all evidence points to the G-Man... otherwise, who is he? If he is the administrator it doesn't pose so much of a mystery.

Sorry that you couldnt wrap your head around some words bigger than "Pornography".

It has to be the G-Man. In HL1 at the beginning you see the guy in the room talking to the G-Man , in OP4 you see the Holographic message saying that he has to go because he has an appointment with the administrator.

Initial design concept for the Administrator

Uhhh guys....

The best effect of continuity, from my point of view, has been the ability to take named but unused figures like Gordon’s mentor, Dr. Kleiner, and the nameless "Administrator," and turn them into full-blown characters. Kleiner, for instance, was everywhere and nowhere in the first game. As you pointed out, he was in the manual, and he was present (though not named) in and around the Test Chamber. The Administrator was named but never seen until now.

From Marc Laidlaw interview: http://www.planethalflife.com/features/interviews/laidlaw/

Somebody didn't read the Laidlaw interview.

In what way?

I enjoyed the interview. Made me anticipate the story more. And it's interesting to have a bit more information.

The Administrator - Hello, Gordon.

Gordon - ...

The Administrator - I am the Administrator. I've been waiting for you. You have many questions, and although the process has altered your consciousness, you remain irrevocably human. Ergo, some of my answers you will understand, and some of them you will not. Concordantly, while your first question may be the most pertinent, you may or may not realize it is also the most irrelevant.

Gordon - ...

The Administrator - Your life is the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent to the programming of the Half-Life. You are the eventuality of an anomaly, which despite my sincerest efforts I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision. While it remains a burden assiduously avoided, it is not unexpected, and thus not beyond a measure of control. Which has led you, inexorably, here.

Gordon - ...

The Administrator - Quite right. Interesting. That was quicker than the others.

* Gordon releases snarks into the room.

i think the Gman is just the messenger. Even if he was the "administrator" (which i don't think he is, "havn't met him till now"-Laidlaw interview) he might only be one of many administrators of different divisions. Administrator of black mesa and the government grunts maybe, same person or one of many?

i think its same one, but that hes definately not head honcho.
seraphim like in his role of bringing the news and word from above in the corporate ladder?

would the big cheese (guess that would be ceo, har har) be out communicating face to face with his pawns? i could see it either way but i lean towards No

LMAO. I can just picture a Flash where the camera has the Administrator talking , then switches to Gordon with 5 seconds of silence , then goes back to Admin talking rofl.

lol, t3h s3x0r :bounce:

But seriously, the interview was the first real bit of info on the story we've gotten since April. It shows that the G-Man isn't the head of the conspiracy in HL2 like many of us believed, and it hints at the ending of HL2 being a meeting between the administrator and Gordon.

No. No. No. It's not the administrator..... Its the Deliverator!!!! (read Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson to understand what I am talking about. It's a good read too!)
Sushi, do you post in the CSCentral forums?

You know, one of the sound files in the Pak file says this:

"Oh, it's you. I thought it might be another of the Administrator's men. There're everywhere this morning."

So maybe, the G-man was just meant to be one of the Administrators men. Maybe the G-man was meant to be more than one person.

But the sound wasn't included in the game, so it's not really part of the story.

I've played Half Like a couple of times (playing it right now, just beat the spider thing on xen) and I have never heard of The Administrator...the ****?

I know so little of the story. Which could be good. More to be un-revealed :)

Can you guys tell me where the administrator was mentioned? I haven't played OpFor or Blue Shift... I don't remember the administrator being mentioned anywhere in the original HL.

The only place I know of is in the manual, where Gordon's acceptance letter is written by a certain L.M. from "the office of the Administrator"...

"The Administrator is very concerned that we get a conclusive analysis of today's sample. I gather they went to some lengths to get it."

Play the single player again, it's said not long before you enter the test chamber.

oohh, that would be cool (just like how there were tons of "Einstein" scientists, but each was different). Although, if that were true, they've just changed the story to fit with it being one person. We'll never know unless we're high Valve people (or they say) :p

This is all good, but they must avoid the Matrix/Agent Smith/The Architect type situation at all costs.

You guys are all wrong. The G-man is just "The Administrators" sex slave.Jeeze.Some dude at EB told me,it must be true.

I'm just saying it shouldn't end up with a story similar to the Matrix. I'm not trying to bash Matrix here.
