what would be best for Half life2 because im getting a new gaming computer

I'll build you a 1337 one for 2,000 $ :D

But no seriously, whats your price range....

I dont know I build a very powerful system @ ibuypower.com with amd 64 3500 pro 1gb memory nvidia 6800 ultra graphic card for about $1100

What do you recommend?

haha no idea, wasnt serious.

But give me your price range, and I'll throw together what i think is the best setup for the price.

I got nothing else to do, my friends are all outa town. Rich sons of bitches.

EDIT.
Lol i guess starting at 2k would be a start.

EDIT2.

FFS, Newegg is down GRRRRR

Well if you are going for the "best" the 64 bit 3500 isn't it ;)

NONE - 2nd Hard Drive
Radeon X800 PRO 256MB 8X AGP
16X DVD ROM (BEIGE)
NONE - CDRW
NONE - MONITOR
3D WAVE ON-BOARD 5.1 SOUND CARD

I build this cost me 1500 beat it? What do you think of it

yea i cant afford to get like an fx-53 im only 12 and my parents are gonna buy it for me I think....I hope in time for half life 2

Thats way to expensive.

As soon as newegg is up, i'll do it.

Can you, or a cousin, father etc.

Build one?

Go with an x800 for HL2, not the 6800..

as a point of reference, the puter in my sig. was 1100-1200.

This includes, a 280watt surrond sound system, 3 hard drives, a ups, and a joy stick.
Granted, you have a better cpu, and video card.

But still overpriced.

A waste?

Erm no.

So far runs CS:S, Doom3, and farcry. At full res, no problem.

not to mention only 180$

and i can overclock the thing over 100mhz core, and 150 ram.

intel p4 3,4 ghz @ 4,2 with cooling that can achieve -100c or lower
ABIT IC7-max3
phase change for mobo chipset
ati x800 pro vivo since it cheaper and can be flashed to xt pe
2x PC3200 - 512 MB - DDR - Corsair Platinum R C2
audigy 2 Zs 7.1

offcourse core off the x800 overclocked to 680 mhz without artifacts
and mem 1 ghz higher if posible

with this you can play with 16x af 6x aa
anything else on high
and will give you a kick ass score for 3dmark05 :) or 03 etc

Im sure my brother knows someone that can build him one ...or me.......I dont know i want the idle system for hl2.....I prefer amd and radeon.....I just want a good price for a quality system

3dmark is no reason to buy a card.
For example, the 9600xt scores a crap load higher on 3dmark05. Then the 5900xt.

Yet it performs much better in games.

am i missing anything you have?

why would you get a 3400+ with the 512 cache? if you're spending the money might as well get the 1meg cache

Also why only 1 sata hdd? make it 2 250 gig wd sata in raid 0

Ok i have built 4 normal comps, kinda made for gaming and kinda not.

I have recently got a job and now im going ALL out building SUPER RIG
my budget is about $1,500 give or take. And I was wondering if someone on here can take the time and build the best computer for this price range?

I want AMD 64-bit CPU 939 pin.
and I have drives already and 200 gb HD for back up space.
i want the x800 xt PE or what ever its called.
and enough ram slots to upgrade later on.
quite computer as possible and cool (as in not HOT) nice airflow

All off of newegg .please :)

Go ahead and spend my money ..wwhahaha

Baby eater, i have a raid setup.

I was simply matching his setup for a far better price.

The best gaming computer
In my honest opinion, the best gaming computers are as follows.

Alienware
Falcon Northwest
Voodoo

Or.
HomeMade.
Yeah. Forgot about that.
If you can build your own with ease and inexpensively, go for that.

Falcon Northwest is the most overpriced system maker on the marker...Voodoo systems are nice but also overpriced 200$+...oh and Alienware is the best damn system maker I've ever seen, benchmarked 3 of their systems and they do great for the prices
