What is the best main theme for a video game? Below are links to youtube video's of each song on the poll.


Half-Life theme I don't really know if this is the official theme but since I've heard it in both HL1 and 2 I'm putting it in.

The Halo theme

Portal theme I would rather not put this in because of it's huge popularity (especially here) I feel it's unfair to the other songs. But it's unfair not to put it in so whatever.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl theme btw this is composed by the same awesome dude that does the Final Fantasy music.

The Legend of Zelda theme

(sorry but even if I wasnt a hl2 fan I'd still vote for the portal song ..I've been humming it the last few days, there isnt a video game song that's ever had that effect on me ..I dont even see it as a theme song, it could easily have been released as a pop single

distant second would be the theme to the battlefield games ..always got me excited, although they kind watered it down over the years ..the best was 1942 and BF2
 
fail poll is fail, there are many game soundtracks that blow all of these (except maybe Portal, which I chose) out of the water. HL doesn't really have a "theme song" but if we were choosing which game had the best full OST I would probably pick that.

However, Starcraft > all in terms of VG music :D

I can't say I quite understand the ever-lasting spoogefest that surrounds "Still Alive". Yeah, it was funny and kinda catchy, and took me completely by surprise. But come on. Surely there are things greater than what amounts to a geek-pop single.

I'd agree with this.

Even the "HL theme" appeals more to me, simply because the Valve symbol appearing in the begging with that single cowboy-esque gutar strum will always be embedded into my head.

He also had 4 more poll options to fill in, which he didn't. Starfox should not be on here.

Yeah I made an oops. Sorry. I was doing two other things at the same time.

When this thread dies I'll make another with more options. But I've never even played Deus Ex let alone heard the them so I didn't put it in.

Since that is missing from this "poll" (if you can even call it that given the options), I hereby abstain from voting.
 
Bottom line: Too many games to fit into a poll of this kind.
 
If you consider Hell March to be the RA theme, that would surely be right up there.
 
Actually I'd retract my Portal vote in favour of RA if it were possible.

Hell March is unbeatable frankly.
 
The "other/list" option should have been in the poll.

One of themes I will never forget, cliche to say, is one from Doom. I forget which song it was, but it was a bit slower and had an almost depressing sound to it, but still intense and eerie.

I recall the very begining of Marilyn Manson's Sweet Dreams sounding a bit like it.
 
The Portal song is just GREAT in every term. It's got a catchy tune, it's got funny lyrics...it's a great song in general.

And I don't like the Portal theme song. :|
 
Half of those aren't even themes, including Portal.

From those, gotta be Zelda (but not that crappy remix).

Halo, Deus Ex, Metal Gear Solid 2, C&C: Red Alert, C&C: Red Alert 2.

Hell March wins.
 
I absolutely love the GTA:LCS theme song. Incredibly awesome and it's made me watch the full intro just to hear through the rest of the song quite a few times.

Hell March also gets my nod as another awesome theme intro...

edit: This poll is incredibly biased and does not even touch most of the 'best' theme songs.
 
TF2 has some excellent songs. Reminds me of spy movies. :D
 
Portal's theme song is the one on the radio, not the credits. Thats the credits song. This poll is whack.

I voted Zelda, but if Deus Ex were on there, I would vote that.

OMG I've been having a horrible time with poop ups and then i find this after i got all of the pop ups out of my way and I'm a huge fan of LoZ games even though i am a girl, but yeah this did brighten my moods up, thank you, and please play more LoZ songs.
