The Big DM map thread

DM_Subway is a map based on HL2. The map takes place in City 17. This sector of the city is still over ruled by Combine forces, but not if the rebels have anything to do with it. The Combine regiment must defend their part of the city to maintain the control for doctor Breen's plans. Rebels must gain control of this area in order to utilize the subway systems to escape City 17. Who's side are you on?

The map took about 3 weeks to make. There are some FPS issues in some places. They are fixed with AA being lowered. I hope you guys enjoy it. I wanna see it on some servers :p

dm_playground released

Ok, after literally a couple months of tweaking, testing, rebuilding, and
pouring over online hammer tutorials I'm finally satisfied with dm_playground.

Updates since the release of dm_playground_beta (rel ~ 3/16/05):

- Greatly improved overall FPS, heavy optimization, much zippier gameplay
- Redesigned playfield geometry to be less camper friendly
- Complete texture tweaking/rescaling
- New detailed skybox
- Removed the water tower

Description: At night, a misty island with a lone building and caves. Atmospheric. There should be some very interesting varied gameplay, indoor and outdoor.

- Fixed a bug that was causing physics meltdowns with repeated use of the ggun during buzy deathmatch play
- Fixed a problem with the hint/skip brushes. This greatly improves the FPS by quite a bit in many places

- Redesigned tram system now as working call/activate/send buttons. And the trams are -FAST- now. Fill the tram bucket with SLAMs,send it over to your crossbow camping friend in the tower across the way, detonate. Happy explosive death follows.
- Full soundscapes and sound F/X. Ok, I admit I was wrong. The map is much better with ambience. Thanks for the suggestion.
- The 'fun' phys-props added. The crappers, the sawblades, the sofas, etc, all the things you wish you could huck at people while standing in line at the DMV.
- Improved textures/lighting/geometry/displacements/props/skybox. Yadda, yadda...it's prettier.
- More optimization/gameplay performance tweaks.
- A couple hidden bonuses

This map was made by my brother, but he is too lazy to publish his neat maps anywhere, so im advertising them as much as I can.
Map itself features a little yard in the middle of the forest, with one "base" building for each team. Combine house also has a toggleable forcefield blah blah, yada yada, more information on the readme. Intended for 2-10 players or so.

Dm_Council

Hi, this is a relatively simple map consisting of a courtyard/park surrounded by appartments accessible on two sides. There is also a rear courtyard to draw the fighting away from the main courtyard.

Style and features:
* A mexican village high up in the mountains.

* Original design, a completely new map for the community.

* Climb and jump to explore rooftop areas and dominate the rooftops, battle in the streets and alleys and inside walled courtyards. Buildings you can enter and travel through to help you get around the map.

* Many custom textures, sounds and models to give the map a unique feel.
Including a new high resolution explosive barrel skin, custom bicycle and new trees.

* Jump up to reach the supercharger or search for the elusive rpg hidden up high (_norpg version has a good weapon stash instead)

* Suitable for any number of players. Ranging from 1 vs 1 upwards.

* If you are good at jumping you can take advantage of this platforms and roofs to move around the map easier.

Servers: [SMG] Half-Life 2 Deathmatch - spacemonkey.servegame.org:27015. You can always request this map (the admin is usually on the server).

This is a remake and improvement of SiPlus' mg_football map

The goal of game is to push the ball (a rollermine) into the enemy goal with the Gravity Gun. Players can't pickup the ball or push it with any another weapon. The game is upto 8 Goals and then it displays a "WINNER!" and "LOOSER!" sign on either side of the scoreboard to dictate who wins. At this point the map must be restarted with mp_restartgame or another map has to be played. (I will add another version later which automatically ends the map when 8 goals have reached).

There are a few edits from the original version: 1. Walls changed and improved 2. Lighting modified 3. Scoreboard modified and made better 4. If the ball goes outside the boundary behind the goal, it is teleported to the corner for a corner. 5. If the ball goes outside the boundary on the sides, it is teleported on the centre of the sideline.
The map should be played with mp_teamplay = 1, even if only two players are playing.

Credits go to SiPlus for the original map. I used VMEX to decompile the map and rebuild it in Hammer.
 
I havent finished dowloading HL2DM yet, well, i have, but its an update that has not finished yet, too laaaaaaazzzzzy....
