This is one of the big event's people this Summer and Left 4 Dead is under the radar...... for now! DigiQ8 couldn't see Gabe Newell delivering the video stream he sent me, and I did kinda. It was the Hospital mission and it was a mini-finale at the gas station. Now it was an aerial view of the Survivors firing in a hail of bullets in bullet smoke at a mini finale. A Tank rips a chunk of road with a huge crackle and throws a massive chunk at the Survivors. Then it climbs onto a rooftop as it beats its chest and the moonlight shines on it. Meanwhile there is zombies climbing up fences and crap. It all looked so real, like CGI.

In fact it doesn't look like L4D we have been following for 2 years. No, it looks better even more so now! I do remember a split second scene of some kind of explosion and Gabe I think said it was the gas station exploding. It looked better than Crysis! Louise is more lifelike looking and Francis is like Vin Diesel with a bald head. Also Gabe Newell delivered a keynote speech.

I mean if you were totally WOW'd at the Cinematic Effect of Episode 2, then that gas station took full use of that Quad Core! So it's still

So it's still Nov. 4th and the XBOX 360 is 2 player co-op. Yes, Francis does look like Vin Diesel now. That is because all the Survivors are now radically changed. This is Louise for example:

I think I remember in fact the girl looking like a typical High School cheerleader. We should get some new videos like the video I described on Wednesday. Also there is Infected gameplay coming:

Well, I'm not like other Left 4 Dead fans. I don't mind when Valve changes stuff. They always do the right thing for their game. I personally like the new design of the characters, still I'm going to miss the old ones.

Edit: Maybe they're just replacements, eh?
 
I for one welcome the character changes.
They did all look like battle hardened war veterans instead of random people surviving a zombie outbreak.

I like the new looks... They seem more realistic. I've always liked how they look like people you'd see walking down the streedt... Only, with guns... And zombies.
 
I love the redesignes and cant wait for the entire keynote speech.

Damn the biker guy looks too clean now IMO. I agree with the other changes though, wish the black guy had kept the dreads.
 
I am absolutely loving these redesigns, and I think they look way better. I'm especially digging the black guy's new look. Of course, I'm now more hyped for the game. Yay Valve and Turtle Rock.

If you had the optional install, you should be able to have a choice of character models to choose from

The new character model for Louis reminds me of DB Woodside now :LOL:
 
Reminds me of some people who work in high rise building's when I visit Boston or New York. Every black guy looks like Dave Chappelle though right? :| *Anybody hear the witch at the end of the trailer?
 
I just watched the video again, and I have to say, my only solid complaint is that the pieces of stone the Tank picks up seem to create smaller, crumbling pieces of stone out of thin air. I understand they are trying to make everything more cinematic and cool, but it really stuck out in both of my viewings, and it looked sort of silly. Anyone else agree?

The reason for the change in character appearance is because of dumb people:
"We're showing them now, but they've been worked on for a bit," he explained. "All the characters are being worked on almost non-stop. What it is is a lot of playtesting that made us realize that we need to be able to separate infected from the survivors and make it clearer. One of the ways we thought we could do that was through clearer designs."
Also Infected playability is a NO GO for E3 but it sure does sound like they are hauling ass for QuakeCon which is 2 weeks from now! :D

Well, he is ripping a chunk out of the pavement, so little pieces that fall off aren't really a surprise.

No, it's not that. I'd love to see little pieces crumbling off. The problem is that these little pieces weren't crumbling off the big piece he was holding, they were just being "spawned" next to the piece of stone to give the appearance that the stone was actually crumbling. It wouldn't bother me so much if it didn't look so tacky.

agreed.....i think it's gonna be fixed before Nov though

so who REALLY thinks it's coming out Nov? i mean, it might...it's not Half-Life soo...maybe

Oh yeah, after watching it again... that does look weird.
I'm sure they'll fix that before release... still quite a ways away.

I don't like the new models now. Watching them in action is not so great, especially the way their hands look. Some screams sound like Homer Simpson from the very early builds. In the new vid, Zoey lower section is not proportioned right neither to her upper section. Also wtf is up with the zombies waving their arms and missing? They have to have the zombies make physical contact with the object they are hitting or bandages that wrap around thin air. Also there is clipping all the time and it happens still with the most updated version of Source. *Zombie sex with Zoey in first vid, LMAO! :LOL:
 
Lol, when they kill the Tank in the last video you can hear that screaming that was audible from Half-Life during the "On A Rail" chapter. Creepy.
