Check it out top speed of 110 km/h, 300 kilometres on one tank of fuel and at a cost of just a penny per kilometre. All of this at "zero pollution". In fact the car cleans the air it uses!
Looks a bit pants but hey its cheap as chips.(hang on its even cheaper than chips)

I assumed you meant a flying car, I was disapointed, boo.

Ok , I just posted that above to get an extra postcoutn and watch the reactions.. But indeed it's kinda weird.. We've been able to compress air for a loong time, if it was possible to run a car on it it'd have been done a long time ago.. And I highly doubt you can barely begin to make the car move on compressed air.. The Turbo device for instance, adds some effect to the engine by compressing the pollutions coming out of the car, but it doesn't add that much , and heated air would probably not be more effective than a cars pollution-gas that already is heated up somewhat.

Correct me if I am wrong, please.

*EDIT* LOOK AT MY POSTCOUNT EVERYONE, I R TEH EVILZ0RS!

Why must all these Future Cars look so shit.

*reads article* schweet!
*sees car* *cringes* someone, hold me!
(Antlion-hood, it feels good!)

eeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww
and nice of them to put the faq in spanish on the english site...

It's funny, they make a car that runs on air, then they make something that's about as aerodynamic as a brick with huge wings all over it

Why not make a super sleek car thats 1mm off the ground? Is it really so much to ask?

Exactly! Probably because its from Europe....

[edit] Not that Im saying Europe has sucky cars.....they just usually make cars smaller so they dont take up space. Not like SUV's.....you'd think somthing that big would be able to get somewhat good mileage....... [/edit]

you will never see an american driving one of those.......

even my sisters corolla would destroy that thing in an accident.

now, if they made a hummer that ran on air...

Oil shortages. Bad for the economy, good for new technology!

It's really ugly, man. ughghgh. I like this one muuuch better.

0-60 in 4 seconds, baby
I saw their display at the '04 la auto show, and they were showing a movie of the maker driving it on the street, and he stops next to some guy on a motorcycle, and he's like "You wanna race?" and the motorcycle guy is like "Haha, sure buddy, whatever you want" and the little red car pwned him! booyah!! that shit is badass.
lol everyone laughed who was standing around me

Not a car for clostrophobics I take it?

well, cant 1 just buy 2 of these air engines, and put them into a existing car, and add airtanks?

ive got a really big car standing up in my hometown, i could do it to that one as a experiment, i dont mind if my car runs on air, heck if i didnt have to pay for the fuel anymore (u just put a electric pump on it and sharge it at home with compressed air) i would gladly let my car run on air.
sounds good. only thing is, if 1 billion cars use a 80 liter airtank wich compresses say 5000 liters of compressed air, will there be air left to breathe?

ohmigod that might be true! wait a minute- how much air is there reeally?

there would be plenty....and it would be alot cleaner than the shit we call air, now.

yes, the mini cat is very cool....
but the rest look like.....
er....
something bad.

hhmm. Methinks its a car that runs on air... "some of the time".

Looking at the bottom it uses dual fuel, fossil fuels and air. and looking at the mechanical thing at the bottom, it seems to work by just compressing the air and expanding it in the pistons.

Now my A level physics tells me that you cant run the car perpetually on air, as the air is compressed it heats up and this is transferred out of the system. What it looks like is a more efficient way of recycling the energy created by the normal Combustion of fossil fuels. This makes it a more efficient car, but it still needs energy inputted into it.

Currently the only nearly efficient way we know to release energy is burning (and possibly electricity). This air setup does not involve burning, it doesnt seem to "create" energy (by this I mean unlock energy stored in potential form).

The problem currently is being able to store the energy necessary in a portable form. The only way we can do this comercially at the moment is with fossil fuels. Batteries are another way, but we currently can't make them store enough energy for car purposes (we are almost there). Hydrogen is the next method. The problem here is creating the hydrogen. In order to create hydrogen we need to split it from a compound, as there is no pure hydrogen naturally occuring on earth. (it all escaped a long time ago :) ). What we currently want to do is create it from water. To do this we need to "input" energy, which is then released in the opposite reaction in the car. Where do we get the energy to do this... a power station. How is this powered? hopefully by Solar power. The sun is the only way to get "new" energy into this otherwise enclosed system that is earth, so thats the best thing to use :).

That turned into a rather long discussion on car power :/ oh well someone might read it.

I want this pick up.
I don't know, I hope that one day it'll be possible for cars to run on air. I mean it would be fantastic if we could make motors that work the same way as lungs, that provides the right kinda "thingy" for flowers for them to make oxygen so we can breath etc.

Somehow I'm really drawn towards the van.

Its kinda cool. In a weird way.

how is it possible to turn in that thing without falling over?
