Farrowlesparrow said:I know what you mean....there are some films, like Lord of the Rings where you can really get into the story and talk about it for ages.
Then, there are films like, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen which really you shouldn't analyse to much and instead should sit down and enjoy them for what they are...pure entertainment. Its not there to make any moral points, or bring up interesting topical debates. When you come out, you should say things like "Wouldn't it be cool to be the invisible man" and things like that.
i think the exact oppisite, i remember when pirates of the carribean came out and practically every single human being in the world was just telling the other one how great it was, and when i finally went to see it, it was one of the most over-hyped movies i had ever seen, i predicted every single action about 2 seconds before it happened, i saw the actors say the lines before the voice boxes in their throats made them, i just don't think movies that you can just "sit and enjoy without using your brain" are a very productive way of using my time, i tell people this and quite an abondence respond by saying that i have no buisness in being interested in movies what so ever, there is a genre of movies that the mainstream will never grab on to, a genre that has movies with the most surprises and the most entertainment, they are called "Independent Films" the generic trigger happy, raunchy teen comedy audience will never ever appreciate the treasures locked in these pracitcally unheard of movies, greats like; "Adaptation" "SLC Punk!" "Lost in La Mancha", if you haven't heard of these landmark films, then i can truly say i am not surprised
