The Chronicles of Riddick movie

I know what you mean....there are some films, like Lord of the Rings where you can really get into the story and talk about it for ages.

Then, there are films like, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen which really you shouldn't analyse to much and instead should sit down and enjoy them for what they are...pure entertainment. Its not there to make any moral points, or bring up interesting topical debates. When you come out, you should say things like "Wouldn't it be cool to be the invisible man" and things like that.

i think the exact oppisite, i remember when pirates of the carribean came out and practically every single human being in the world was just telling the other one how great it was, and when i finally went to see it, it was one of the most over-hyped movies i had ever seen, i predicted every single action about 2 seconds before it happened, i saw the actors say the lines before the voice boxes in their throats made them, i just don't think movies that you can just "sit and enjoy without using your brain" are a very productive way of using my time, i tell people this and quite an abondence respond by saying that i have no buisness in being interested in movies what so ever, there is a genre of movies that the mainstream will never grab on to, a genre that has movies with the most surprises and the most entertainment, they are called "Independent Films" the generic trigger happy, raunchy teen comedy audience will never ever appreciate the treasures locked in these pracitcally unheard of movies, greats like; "Adaptation" "SLC Punk!" "Lost in La Mancha", if you haven't heard of these landmark films, then i can truly say i am not surprised

It probably sucks. You all like it because it's a nerdy sci-fi CGI-fest.

Since it's a prequel, that means I don't have to see Pitch Black first, right?

Oh yeah, sorry. It's set 5 years after Pitch Black.
I just heard from people that it was a prequel, but I guess they were referring to the game.

Lots of words

Ah...Another case of "You aren't a real [insert pointless obessesion here]"

No i haven't heard of those films...but what does it matter? Will i be a better person for seeing them? I've seen independant films and granted there are some i like, but that doesn't mean all the stuff that comes out now is rubbish.

If you don't like the films then don't bother watching them. I don't see the big problem with going to watch a film that isn't really deep in story and completely unpredictable. Maybe you think its below you to watch pure entertainment films like Pirates of the Carribean. I thought it was a very good film, very enjoyable and i also agree that Jonny Depp was good in the part. What exactly didn't you like about that particular film, apart from the fact you magically held a copy of it inside your head before you saw it?

Its like when people say films are bad because they are full of CGI...Why? Its just another way of making a film. You go to watch films like that when you want to relax and have fun without having to engage your brain to much. Many times have i gone to the cinema because ive had a hard week and i don't feel like doing anything strenuous, physically of mentally.
