This should help give reference to the height of the Citadel:

I'd hate to work there.

One thing that has always confused me about the Citadel is that whenever you look at it from the outside, it's top always disappears into a mass of dark clouds that seem permanently positioned above it's location. But at the end of HL2, when you finally reach the top, you can clearly see the Earth's surface, with nothing in the way.
You have disrupted the dark energy reactor by removing all the power-cores and the fog machine has shut down.

Nice comics dude

Sorry must of slipped there. eh he he oh boy

Well it wasn't necessarily the top. There isn't real evidence to prove that because you could easily be on a lower tower or something.

It sure as hell looks as though you are on the top. Infact I'm pretty certain you are.

Well it's more impressive seeing the landscape rather than a mass of cloud.

Anyway, maybe it's just a clear skies day when Gordon goes up the Citadel.

It certainly looks like the top of the citadel to me.

What with the lack of higher peaks in all directions...

The bit where you stop Breen is very definitely right on the top.

I stuck the model of the citadel in hammer and made a brush that tall and then scaled it up to full size, its about 2 miles tall

Hyperion, isn't that only the part visable beneath the clouds?

Anyway, the Citadel first came shooting down from the sky, blasting itself into the earth. It serves as a lot of things, resourcemining and troop production being two of them.

And of course Mr. Breen's office at the very top of it.

It didn't shoot down, as far as I know. It was gated in. They beamed a hole in the middle of the city, and then beamed in the citadel.

-Angry Lawyer

1: ground in the middle of cities diapear
2: citadel appears in place

I thought (some theory from this very board) that the citadel was gathering everything and "eating the city" just to get, well... ressources. This was assumed on the basis that all the need is matter to create dark energy and the Irifle bouncing balls.

No, that was the enitre citadel, I used the model that included the antenna on top

Is the citadel a fortress?

How tall is the citadel?

What is the citadel exactly for?
No one knows how tall it is, and Im surprised no one answered the use of it yet. The citadel is allegedly used as a mineral extracting device( some believe) some believe the main reason the combine are on Eath is to rob it of its resources. You will notice over time the citadel will grow and engulf buildings and roads making them into areas that are completely controlable by the combine. Probably another method of oppression and control. And this is a personal thought of mine it wouldbe funny if it was true but Isuspect that possibly the combine are pawns of a larger group one the G-man possibly belongs to, this group probably takes races and converts them into they're slaves, since no method of procreation can create people with the requirements.

Didn't some guy figure out the exact height by timing the fall of some object he knew the mass of? Go physics!

where did you hear this? And lets just say thats its higher than any man made building ever concieved
