'The Dark Knight Rises'

Large screen high definition cinemas.
Filming in native IMAX (rather than many films which are converted to the format post-production) means using special cameras for higher definition and iirc different aspect ratio.

And don't forget much higher ticket prices to actually see it in the intended format.

I still wish Christian Bale sounded like Kevin Conroy :(

Can't say that i like the name. Why didn't they just do what they did before and go with a whole new title. "The Caped Crusader" has a nice ring to it.
He's on a crusade to rid the world of evil after all.

Because, somehow, that sounds like a gay porno.

Jesus christ Gawker Media you are so awful why are you so awful.

HEY BUT IT'S OKAY BECAUSE THERE IS A QUESTION MARK AT THE END

Anne Hathaway in a skin tight leather cat suit?

Meow.

I'm pretty happy with the news TBH. Anne Hathaway is smoking.

I am unsure about Hathaway but i trust Nolan's judgment. I wonder how they are going to approach Bane? Is he going to be wearing that ridiculous S&M outfit?

I'm sure he'll be altered so he fits appropriately into Nolans Batman universe.

Wikipedia says of Bane,

Bane is highly intelligent; in "Bane of the Demon", Ra's al Ghul says that Bane "has a mind equal to the greatest he has known."[7] In prison, he taught himself various scientific disciplines equal to the level of understanding of leading experts in those fields.[4] He knows six active languages and at least two additional arcane and dead ones, those mentioned are Spanish, English, Urdu, Persian, and Latin.[7] The "Bane of the Demon" storyline reveals that he has a photographic memory. Within one year, he is able to deduce Batman's secret identity.[7]

I think that's more what we'll see, and less of the ridiculously oversized wrestler with green goo pumping through his veins.

*cough* BULLSHIT *cough*

Bane is an interesting and nonconformist choice...I'm looking forward to seeing what Nolan's cooking, because presumably it isn't going to be this, or this, or indeed this.

After hearing the news about Anne Hathaway, the movie title suddenly makes sense...

Who's to say? If all he has to do in Prison is read and he's there for years at a time?

They're not really substitutes for experience. It's just silly comic-book villain background gloss, but for Bane it works.

I just hope he doesn't look to 'cute' to make a good bane, although comic bane has a mask anyway. Also I guess the Joker looked nothing like Ledger so they might do a similar transformation with Bane.

Anyone else betting that Bruce will die in this last installment?

I think they'll keep the Bane attire. You can't really get rid of the vest or the mask, and why would you? What would be the point? Bane's simplistic but effective appearance is fine. If you stray from the simplicity, he ceases to be Bane, unlike the tweakable Joker.

Has anyone else read No Man's Land? It's a five-part story of post-quake Gotham. Bane is hired by Lex Luthor to break into the city and destroy the records building. As a kid, this was my first introduction to the character.

Anyone else betting that Bruce will die in this last installment?

That would be a bold move and one I've been calling for since seeing TDK. I like the idea of Alfred out-living the whole of the Wayne family.

I really can't see Hathaway as Catwoman. Doesn't she act pretty much exclusively in feel good chick flick movies? Admittedly, Ledger seemed an odd choice, but he did have a more dramatic background than she did before TDK. Anyway, pretty damn excited.

Yeah, Anne Hathaway can definitely pull off a dark persona.

Also, why do you guys think Bruce will die in this movie? I don't really think it'd be entirely logical for them to kill him just yet.

Well it's now or never, although I personally think it would be strange timing. I mean, he's been Batman for less than a year.

Just yet? This is Nolan's final Batman movie, and ergo Bale's last too.

Killing him off would actually be a pretty dramatically effective plot point.

Because, you know, Americans aren't used to the main character dying or the franchise being shorter than 12 movies.

Oh who am I kidding, even if they did kill him he'd be brought back in Batman: Resurrection.

Doesn't mean he has to kill him.
That would mean he was only Batman for a couple years or so, that's stupid.

I think it would be too cynical. He's supposed to be a beacon of hope for the city. To let the bad guys win this quickly doesn't fit with that.

Harvey Dent is (or was) a beacon of hope for the city, Batman is a Dark Knight, didn't you watch the last 5 minutes? The whole point was that Batman can be whatever Gotham needs him to be, which in this case is a villain. Killing him would be very dramatic & appropriate I think. + we won't have to put up with Bale's mediocre performance anymore.

Then who would defend Gotham? I doubt they'd kill him off without some kind of torch passing, at least.

I would definitely **** Anne hathaway.

Hard to top michelle pfeiffers ****ableness though.

Well I'm sure Mr. Nolan is happy with his casting choice based on that assessment.

I don't think some of you understand exactly what Nolan means when he says:

I’m very excited about the end of the film, the conclusion, and what we’ve done with the characters. My brother has come up with some pretty exciting stuff. Unlike the comics, these things don’t go on forever in film and viewing it as a story with an end is useful. Viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we’re telling.

WB will no doubt continue the Batman franchise, but it won't be with Bale and it won't be with Nolan; it'll be a reboot of some description, however many years down the line.

Then who would defend Gotham?

Nolan's story hasn't been about an ad infinitum Batman legend; it's been about fixing Gotham. As Wayne says to Neeson in Begins, "Gotham isn't beyond saving." It's about pulling it back.

I think it would be too cynical. He's supposed to be a beacon of hope for the city. To let the bad guys win this quickly doesn't fit with that.

Batman's death =/= bad guys winning. His death would surely be symbolic of an end to his necessity.

Doesn't mean he has to kill him.
That would mean he was only Batman for a couple years or so, that's stupid.

Why is that stupid?

I think he means that in the comics, he's basically been the batman since the 30s. I'm not really keen on the idea of batman dying as of right now. But I whould rather they'd end it with Dark knight rises than continue on with in the same universe and mess is up.
