This was discussed a couple weeks ago, and has proven to be blown out of proportion.

The link to the actual bill at congress.gov, http://www.congress.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:H.R.163: , it's not forcing armed services. That's not the purpose of the bill.

uh, according to the link you gave me, it sure sounds like it is...
"Universal National Service Act of 2003 - Declares that it is the obligation of every U.S. citizen, and every other person residing in the United States, between the ages of 18 and 26 to perform a two-year period of national service, unless exempted, either as a member of an active or reserve component of the armed forces or in a civilian capacity that promotes national defense. Requires induction into national service by the President. Sets forth provisions governing: (1) induction deferments, postponements, and exemptions, including exemption of a conscientious objector from military service that includes combatant training; and (2) discharge following national service."

I had heard about the supposed money given to the Selective Service and being 19 right now in America...I won't be too happy if they ended up having a draft. I'd just get yanked right out of my life for a few years. I don't wanna go, but if I have to...I will.

Personally, this is seen around every over extended war, I do not think this would pass in any way shape or form. And if it dose certain aspects would not, main part being the involvments of females in the draft, and the non-exempting of college students. There is no way that the entire american public would never allow woman to be dafted along side of men, no matter how "enlightend" america claims to be, we still cling to the sextist notions that it is the male dutty to serve and protect(this is not my veiw but the publics proven veiw).

Also, if I were to be drafted, I would publically burn my draft notice, there is no way in hell that I am going to server in a pointless corporation, and revenge fulled war that frankly america brought on itself. I have no problem serveing my country, but we are not even trying to contain communism, we are assulting religous extreemists that feel they have been wronged by the western world. This is somthing I refuse to be involved in...

Hmm Bush has spent alot of money on this war... I dont understand.. why are they favouring a draft now ...? I thought the armies are still plentiful.... Oil wars :rolling:

Bush DOESNT favor the draft. For God's sake, do some research first. You will notice, if you did research, that only hardcore liberal, democrats supported either bill. Please do not post this garbage again without first doing even the slightest bit of research. One bill was passed in by Charlie Rangel, if that doesnt tell you something, then you should just avoid politcal matters entirely.

i would vote against it, of course i dont belive its up to me to decide what the individual woman does, and if she wants to fight for her country, go ahead, but i would rue the day that women are drafted.... god that would suck.... (i would move to holland, always wanted to go there)
