The Fall of a Dictator...

dude, and Castro actually came out of the hospital (cuz he broke his hip and i think his arm) and says "i'm sorry for any suffering my fall might have caused the people of Cuba." what a jerk-off.

I bet the United States Take it over and make it part of florida.

what do you mean take over? we could take over Cuba NOW if we wanted the shitty little island (which is rediculously beautiful in parts, i'll admit). we've got military bases all over Cuba.

Poor man, nice to see that it wasn't serious though :)
Actually, it was sorta serious. He broke a knee and his arm. :O

The Castro in my imagination has an army of backup clones though, so I'm not too worried.

how has castro not died of lung cancer yet? he smoked those cigars SOOOOOO much? must be the clones, ya?

broke his knee-cap and only fractured his arm, actually.

one of his generals will probably just assume power. i don't know anything about hte power structure below castro though, maybe there'll be a civial war.

I wonder what will happen to cuba when he dies.
USA will put a real dictator in place, like in most south american countries! I don't mean to be harsh.

Hint: bay of pigs.

Hint: that was BEFORE we had military bases all over the island
Hint: that wasn't U.S. military. that was CIA training anti-Castro Guerillas
Hint: i know more about U.S. history. i win.

It was still a big blunder on the part of the US. Cuba wins.

Not many people see Cuba as the "evil" one in its relationship with the US

I heard that apparently the US refused to wish him a speedy recovery. And that he has a broken knee and a possible broken arm.

Still, i gotta say, when someone with that much power trips up as goofy as he did, its golden comedy

Well maybe nobody asked the US if it wanted to comment :p

They might refuse to wish him a speedy recovery, but everyone knows that in times like this, you put aside your differences :upstare: . Besides, politicians always like to look good

damn straight we did. that asshole screwed with us too much back in the cold war. he can choke for all we care.

but they ARE evil. just because they're poor doesn't mean they're good. cubans...with their beady little eyes and their fried chicken....

Erm...yes. You realise origioninally all he did was make his country independant (and who can blame him for being a patriot?) just like the Americans did while their country was under British control...and then the US refused to buy his sugar, which would have crippled the economy had he not gone to the Soviets, thus making the Americans hate him even more. The Soviets then pushed him into agreeing to put missile bases on Cuba and the rest is history. Now I don't want to get into a 'USA v The World' debate but how exactly are the Cubans the evil ones?

Best post ever.

Actually, no. WE kind of made his country independent. See there was this war, right? It was between the US and Spain. That's why it was called the Spanish-American War. We won, and we took Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Phillipines, and Guam. A while after, we gave Cuba and Phillipines their independence. I agree with ya about all the other stuff, though. His options WERE kind of limited.

castro never sent a small mercenary army to kill the president did he? screwed you over ..LoL... how did he screw you over? ..refuse to be assassinated?

Hmm, that's not quite true. The majority of the Cuban Americans absolutely hate Castro and his government and want to see the US do anything it can against them. This is playing a role in the election in Florida as Bush has implemented some rather harsh policies against Cuba and thus has gained support in the American Cuban community. Though one of those policies went too far in limiting people in how much money they can send back to family members among other things so he's also getting some criticism over that.

But my point is that I consider the opinions of people who actually once lived there to be pretty important. I would think they probably know what they're talking about.

if you'll read a bit more carefully, you'll see i typed "screwed WITH" not "screwed OVER"

yes but for clarity sakes I used "over" instead of "with": the meaning is more or less the same

not in my book. in mine, if i piss you off, i'm screwing with you. if i kill you mom when you're ten years old, i've screwed you over.

but hey... we all gots our different interpretations ya? no biggie

well whatever ..the point still stands ..castro never tried to kill the president

true enough. not that he COULD have, had he tried

true ...but the same could be said about the US; they couldnt kill him even when they tried ..although they were successful with Che

Well, all the Cuban industries were US-dominated, and the US-sponsored Dictator, Batista, was corrupt in the extreme, and the few had money and the many did not. Although technically 'independant' it was pretty much in the USA's pocket. This is what I gleaned from GCSE history class, so I might be wrong, but that was how I understand it.

well, yes, this is true. but castro never fought a war that won "Cuba's independence" from the US
