The engine is on X360 and PS3, but the game hasn't been officially announced for them. However, I doubt Crytek would go through all the trouble to port the engine when they don't get too many liscensees unless they plan on doing something with it. So I wouldn't be surprised if it does.

Cevat Yerli: In general the architecture is different of course, but they are quite a bit more similar then Xbox360 and PS3. The cpu's of PC, 360 and PS3 have only one similarity - multi-threading. As a generic cpu the Xbox 360 processor is the most powerful one, if you're taking the 7 Spu's of the PS3 into account things change. Before we had the PS3 devkits we thought PS3 and Xbox 360 were closer in design than PC and console. That's not the case though *laughs*

Cevat Yerli: Sure. We have to, because we want to utilize PS3's power in full. Accordingly the PS3 will get it's own engine architecture, kind of a sub-architecture of CryEngine 2.

I'm not impressed by generic fps screenshots from Crytek, call me a party pooper but i'm looking for a character more developed than ol' "Jack" Lets see what Epic / Valve / Bungie / Dice... or any developer with actual credentials can do with this. Far Cry good instead of great and i'm still sour about it.
 
Ahh, and the old argument starts up again:
"OMG Far Cry Sux" against "OMG Far Cry is teh shit!!!

Personally, I subscribe to the second argument, which is why this news announcement has me so hot and bothered.
 
I just played fra cry instintcs on xbox and I liked,the simple storyline was a refresh after played a lot of complicated storyline games,and stealth and freedom was good too
 
for me if it has insane graphics, I can look past the crappy gameplay (ie doom3)
 
RJMC, Far Cry Instincts(XB) wasn't made by the actual developers of Far Cry tho, but Ubisoft, the original Far Cry was made by CryTek(The people who built and own this engine).

But if Ubisoft licenses this engine, then I guess we'll see a Far Cry Instincts 2 on the XB360 based off it.:)

Somebody chop the music from the origional low res and splice it with the higher res demo vid.. seems stupid but its so much cooler to watch with the music D:

That's exactly the attitide I dislike when it comes to gaming. I don't see how playing a game with awesome graphics makes a game worth playing even when the gameplay sucks. Unfortunately this is also the attitude lots of developers share when they make games so we see more and more games looking like Doom 3 and playing like it too...
 
They are going to have to stop calling them video games, and instead call PCs or game systems "ARS" - Alternate Reality System.

For real. My buddies and I always joke and we're like "Are you on your ARS?" lol... Remember you heard it here first! All we need is a commercial marketed VR goggles with head & eye tracking.. Then the Sony headband that beams scents and tastes into your brain...

I'm sure it's all in the works as we speak...

I loved the origional Far Cry's gameplay it was simple and satisfying the best AI at the time imo, running through the awsome landscapes owning generic marines, and the cheesey story rocked, sort of like Arnie in commando, the atmosphere was awsome to me anyway.

Heh.. funny how the crysis story sounds similar to the first predator movie, cross finger's on the gameplay.. although its pretty clear the atmosphere that can be delivered with these visual's will be even more intense, with the aliens in the jungle some hawt weapons and shoot the jungle apart physic's, it surely will rock.
 
Amazing stuff. Looks like I'll be saving up some money to buy a Windows Vista system and a new DX10 video card when it comes out.

MiccyNarc, afaik there's no official confirmation on that.. But I mean.. Comeoooon.. This is EA we're talking about(In a "partnership" with CryTek)..
Do you really think EA'd turn down a chance for profit?:)
I bet we'll see something like say Crysis Instincts xD
