The Godfather

the godfather is not at all better than star wars, but its still good.

I can't believe I just read that. I think I just died a little inside.

For the record, if you're going to compare the Godfather to any sci-fi movie, your only real choices are Blade Runner and 2001. If you say ****ing Star Wars then I just ... I just don't know.

Star Wars is a good trilogy, but it wouldn't be in my top 10

Starwars is probably the better trilogy, as in there are only minor variations in quality throughout 4-6. Whereas the Godfather part 3 always gets the shaft in terms of acclaim.

Other then that i don't know how you can compare the two. They are both intended to be polar opposites of eachother.

Great movies if you're in a serious movie mood, if you watch it for humor or action... you'll be bored as ****.

Last time I watched them I was exactly that, bored as hell... this was of course about 4 / 5 years ago though.

I should probably try rewatching them soon.

As for Blade Runner being the best sci-fi? I really don't see why it has so much acclaim, I thought it was incredibly boring.

Haven't seen 2001 yet, it's on my To Watch list.

If you think Blade Runner is incredibly boring there isn't much hope for u liking 2001.

I just thought it was really slow and just overall dull, I like my fair share of thinking movies though.

Bladerunner was a decent movie though, it had great acting and a nice story... I just couldn't love it as some of you guys do.

2001 possesses many of the same traits that make Bladerunner "slow" and "overall dull", except more so.

Definitely give it a shot though. It's my all time favorite movie, I can't say enough good things about it.

Meh, what's to lose besides a few hours?

I'll give it a rent over the weekend.

Meh Bladerunner was ok, I found it kinda dodgey really. My dad really enjoyed it though.

The Godfather is one of the greatest films I have seen. The second is awsome too but not as good as numero uno, the third was ok but was really boring in places, although *SPOILER* the scene where his daughter gets shot and killed was heart breaking :'( *END SPOILER*

I like The Godfather, the movies are so epic, I mean come on every scene is brilliantly thought out. The scene I like the most is when the original Godfather dies, and that scene just shows to the movie watcher that you can't protect everyone. I also like the development of Michael and I wish the final scene in Part 2 ( when they are sitting that the table ) would have been placed in Part 1... but o well I felt betrayed when Mr F was killed ;/ for his connection to Roth...

Haha, did someone just say the Star Wars trilogy is better than The Godfather trilogy?

When I ever need a good laugh, I always go to the Films. TV and DVD forum.

^Ennui said it :|

Anyway, I just saw Godfather III, and the best thing that could be said about it is that it's OK. The plot is decent, even if I there were too many characters and sometimes it got a little confusing. My main problem with it, though, is that it didn't have the same atmosphere and feeling as the other two movies. It simply didn't feel as a Godfather movie to me. This may be because most of characters and actors in it were new. Only three people (Michael, Kay and Connie) played in the previous movies. If Coppla had made more of an effort to get Robert Duvall to reprise his role as Tom Hagen, maybe it would've gotten better, but I still think it would've been a disappointment.
