I have my days when i go to the town to buy few DVD's to build my DVD collection. Today i bought The Godfather Collection, i have never seen these films but i once tryed but found it too long and boring, was few years ago. But what do you think about these films ?

Awesome. Although I'm not too fond of Godfather 3. Why did you buy the Trilogy set if you found it boring?

I couldnt decide what else to buy, thought id buy Starwars Episode 1 & 2 but somehow i decided for this. I was 13 or 14 when i saw The Godfather for about 30 mins.

excuse my ignorance but
which was the 1 where it had micheal corleone in the church dedicating his life(or sumit like it anyway) to peaceful and forthright means, you know where he keeps saying "i do" to the priest and during his lines you get glimpses of his mob wiping out the competition, best scene eva

I've never seen any of The Godfather movies either.

More movies for your collection:
Twelve Monkeys (Bruce Willis in his first non-action role)
Alien
Brazil

I dont really like Twelve Monkeys, I love the Alien films, but i still just got Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection on DVD. Ill get Alien soon too =)
Films ill get later are Lord of the Rings trilogy and Matrix trilogy but they are quite expensive

The Godfather might be the best movie of'em all. IMDb says so and I think it may be. It's not one of my favorites, but it's a damn good movie, let it be the best, I don't say anything against that.

Things to add to your collection:
Band of Brothers (Bought it from Amazon for only £25!!) - Pure brilliance.
Eternal sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Lethal Weapon Trilogy

Lethal Weapon are the best action films i know.
Band of Brothers, ive seen few of them and i love them, they are really good made. Yes ill buy them :>
Its alot to see and watching movies for 10 hours in a row is the best thing i know ;D

nah a close second, but nothing beats Casablanca

The Godfather movies are good, and I like them (but I love Gangster movies anyway) but I can see they how they might not be to everyone's taste. They're quite slow paced.

Anyway, I suggest you pick up Apocalypse Now DVD, get the original mind you, not the redux version.

The Godfather (Part 1) is definitely among my 5 favorite movies of all time.

That would be Part 1.

I didn't really like the first one. It might have been because the TV I watched it on had a horrible sound system and I couldn't hear what the characters were saying half the time, but the seemed really random. It seemed like all these people were being killed for little to no reason, and there wasn't a lot of cohesion.

I'll try watching it again with a decent audio setup.

We recently had a unit on the gangster film genre at school, which means we watched the Godfather and the Godfather Pt. II, which are both excellent.

I love old gangster movies almost as much as I love new violence-imbued gorefests.

I just finished watching part 1. And i have to say that its brilliant, even if some actress is horrible i loved it. It cant be my favorite because im more to the sci-fi genre. Starwars is my pick and will allways be. Ill watch part 2 tomorrow :D

the godfather is not at all better than star wars, but its still good.

part 2 is complicated and confusing at points, but its as good as the first imo.

I like part 2 best, the godfather moives are classic and brilliant films, but yes, slow paced so for action bullet time junkies, these might not be for you

.

Star Wars is probably the most overrated Trilogy ever. I used to be a big Star Wars freak as a child, but as my taste in movies matured. I recently borrewed Star Wars on DVD off my friend, and it was unbelievable weak. George Lucas cannot direct, a good producer though.

I liked it. Sure it was slow but interesting at the same time.
Ive seen alot of action movies with guns and guns but its good to see something "slower" from time to time too.

Part 2 is the best ever, the part where Vito goes back and gets revenge in Corleone, best killing in a movie ever.

Garfield, let's go fishing....

we live so far from eachother that we cant. :(
and i dont like fishing. Fish should remain in the water.

Now ive seen all the films. And i have to tell, all three films are brilliant. I like them even more than Lord of the Rings =D

Hehe, be careful, even an own opinion like that might be too much for the LOTR-fanboys :D

I didn't like Lord of the Rings at all. Characters we're as blue as the envirorment, quite cold except for that dwarf guy and Sam Wise they're the only guys who didn't look like pre-madonnas. Wind of the Willows was much better. No offense to Lord of the Rings fans the fellowship of the ring was quite good. The Godfather? A brilliant movie. Copolla is brilliant and so is Puzo.

Yes, I know that this is an epic bump, but I thought it was pointless to create a new thread, when we already got one.

I just rewatched Part 1 and 2 and I gotta say, I love these movies more than ever. The acting quality surpasses any other movie I've seen

I got the third part, but everyone keeps saying it sucks, so I haven't watched it, although I probably will soon.

The Godfather is a BRILLIANT movie, but you won't enjoy it unless you go into it with a good attitude

I think the godfather part 1 and 2 are great films, without a doubt...but i also think they are pretty overrated. Only in that they are always referenced as the two best movies ever made. I would go as far to say that, though great, they can't touch other classics like Apocalypse Now or Raging bull etc.
