Where did that news article quoting a VU dude vanish to?

It's not on the front page anymore and the thread has been deleted.

This is cause for "wtf".

Mr Fusion is right I read that as well where did it go??

It was rectified. You know, when you get something to re-write from the pneumatic tube?

This place is going berzerk. All this new content/information and review/screenshot madness is starting to go to my head. Odd that THAT particular thread should get deleted.

Good question. Where'd that article go? Has anybody PM'd the admins to ask them?

"Vivendi Universal Games is in the midst of determining whether Half-Life 2 meets the gameplay standard of the company and more importantly the devoted Half-Life fanbase."

whats a bunch of bullsh!t, like they really give a f**k about the fanbase

That's a bit cynical of you. Good business sense dictates that they take a particular interest in keeping the fans happy.

Poof.

And I've never been this hyped over a game, just read the review to know what I'm talking about. I'm going insane. Half-life 2 will own.

gameplay standard of the company? If they released Van Helsing, then HL2 shoulda been out days ago.

Because VU sent me a e-mail saying that they couldn't confirm if someone from them said that

Was it a reply to an email you sent them, or did they send it on their own to the site?

for tha freakin love of punani juice the freakin game should get released this month (October). if magazine editors who review games for a living have recieved a hl2 release that they don't seem to complain about (from what we've seen from the pcgamer uk nd gameplay revs) then Vivendi can't use the game-isn't-finished excuse nemore. we all know it takes 2-3 weeks max to finish the manufacturing process and distribute the game to the shops. and don't make me start on the freakin quality standards thingy.

there was a guy here who was gonna bomb an interesting location, i think i'll carry the bomb for him :sniper:

Those kinds of things are typical in business contracts. A company in charge of distrubution usually has a stipulation in the agreement saying they decide if something has reached their standards of quality.

It's an outdated notion that companies that distribute titles still have some kind of a say in what games they release. It's there for the distribution company's own peace of mind; but in reality they wouldn't have the cajones to flex that part of the contract (unless in special cases, like say, the game is unplayable, or the developer and the distributer are in the middle of a falling out [hmmmm]).

I agree cynical.

The game is finished, reviews are out with praise, praise and more praise, gigs preloaded, CS:S is finished.

Vivendi should stop assing about and just go gold for a late October/early November release.

They've released Barbie games for christ's sake. What are the standards exactly?

Sheesh.

This is why I avoid politics whenever possible :bounce:

I swear to god, someone's gonna take the development and production process of HL2 and adapt it into a summer blockbuster.

Vivendi just talked a lot of PR rubbish that boiled down to this: "We are testing the game for bugs".

That's why they talk about stuff like "Technical depth".
