The group type

Can anyone explain the group you are listed in below your name in every post? Such as some people are manhacks and some are striders? What does this mean, and how do you advance or choose what group you are going to be in?

If you can, could somone list what types of groups you are? So far I think this works on the number of posts or the quality of posts One gives, but if this is not the case, could somone please explain?

It is based on post count. I'm sure one of the mods or admins could give you the details on the numbers and their correspondent titles.
