as valve would say..."you can mod it"

In fact, I'm not sure the manipulator was used at all in Tunnels...
And it might have an in-game explanation... bioelectrical energy, or something suitably scifi-ish. They've said that models have to be tagged to be manipulatable.
[sl@yer] said:Yeah you're probably right....I didn't actually bother to check (and I haven't watched that video in ages)....perhaps I read it somewhere or made it up! Still....the rollermines evidence is there.
Hmm.....bioelectrical energy coming from a wooden crate then??
CatBOne said:By the by, in the screenies I have seen, the manipulator doesn't seem to have an ammo dial, does this mean you don't need ammo?
[sl@yer] said:Maybe you'll only be able to hold an object for a certain amount of time or something.....there is some sort of guage on the weapon itself....maybe this suggests something. Apparently no ammo limit though.
CatBOne said:The guage is for the weight of the object.
TheMster said:The blue beamed gun, the one shown in certain E3 videon, can manipulate anything not bolted down.
The normal manipulator, avaliable in game, can only pick up inorganic objects. When targeted at an organic object (eg the combine), it instead fires a short burst of energy, harming them (although not very much, hence the other advantages). However, hitting them with a fridge generally proves more effective.
[sl@yer] said:Fair enough....good then!
What if it uses auxiliary power like the flashlight...?
I think that would actually be a good thing, you won't overdo the whole manipulating thing then.CatBOne said:Yeah, I was thinking it might use the HEV suits power.
That seems to be the case. That is a conclusion drawn from watching movies of both the phys-gun and the Manipulator in action.[sl@yer] said:Ok....you seem very sure about this though. Has anything been confirmed or is it all still just speculation?
