Hrmm, does anyone genuinely like the Mighty Boosh around here? I'm still not entirely sure about it. See, a mate of mine loves it and gave me a loan of the first three series on DVD, which I've watched but ultimately left me a bit underwhelmed.

Don't get me wrong, the show gave a good few laughs, but they were generally more frequent when Naboo or Bollo were involved. Maybe I just don't get what they're going for, which is a shame because I've seen a bit of Julian Barrett and Noel Fielding doing their solo thing and they're pretty funny.

I've heard of it but i've never watched it although it didn't look that great to me so i'll just say "Hate it"

I really quite enjoy it.

I never actually seen an episode of it, what exactly is it about?

I saw the Old Greg clips on youtube and love them, but that is all I have ever seen. Pretty damn funny stuff though if that is anything to go by....

I don't hate it as a programme. I hate all the hype around it, not to mention the annoying fan-boys who think it's genius.

The IT Crowd is far better, yet gets nowhere near as much credit.

So yeah, completely overrated.

Just gave my copies to Zephos.
I enjoy the show a lot.

Noel Fielding is a genius, his comedic style is very strange yet appealing.

I liked the radio show and the first two series of it. Not keen on the third series, they seem to be moving away from where they started.

All I've seen is Old Gregg, which is hilarious.

I dunno really, it just feels like a breath of fresh air to TV comedy. I usually cannot stand 'zainey for the sake of being zainey' but I really enjoyed all three seasons of the Boosh. I haven't watched them in a while so it could be interesting to see what I find of it now, but yeah, I liked it.

EDIT: Actually, if I'm honest witth you, I hated it at first. My friend told me to the watch the Old Gregg episode when it first aired and I found it really hard to like, but then a few months later he lent me the DVD of the first series and I just thought what the ****, why not? I had previously watched Natham Barley which has a few of the cast members involves (well, Julian stars and Noel is around in it) and I seriously loved that a lot, so I just sat down and watched the entire thing and found myself really enjoying it.

Old Gregg was epic lols, anything else I've seen by them was less interesting, but I haven't seen much.

That pretty much sums it all up. While I don't profess to like it by using the word genius, it does have it's moments, it's just it takes a while for those moments to kick in for me. Like I said, Naboo and Bollo.... aye, Fossil as well, they're the funniest aspects of the show for me.

To all else, Old Gregg was lols. "You like Baileys? I love you"

Agreed.

Radio Series > Series 1 > Series 2 > Series 3

They're doing a film and an album now.

lolwut?.

I don't really get it TBH, but if you like it, great.

I agree with this. I'm completely 'meh' to it tbh. i really don't get all the hype around it when it seems like just an average comedy program to me.

Agreed.

I don't have much faith in the film and album thing. We'll see I suppose.

I think I only liked one of the series 3 episodes. It seemed lazily done.

My order of preference there, too.

I hated it at first but later came to somewhat like it. I say somewhat, because I eventually enjoyed the first series but then didn't find the second very funny at all. Never bothered watching the third in the end.

Speaking of Nathan Barley though, I've only just remembered how funny that was at times. Didn't Chris Morris write that one though?

Just realised I said Natham. Doh. And yeah, I think he did which would explain the humour somewhat. It just contains a few cast members, but I found it far superior to the Mighty Boosh but really, they're two seperate beings so I shouldn't compare.

Man, I loved that show so much. So, so funny.

I liked series 1 and 2 a lot. Series 3 had a couple good shows. I don't see it being praised too much (USA here).

I love it substantially, mainly for the absurd back-and-forth oneupmanship between the two principle characters than for the more ZANY spoofy antics (eg nanageddon). Although some of the musical numbers have been absolutely wonderful, in Series 3 especially.

In fact, Series 3 went downhill from the start to the end. Eels was fantastic and then the last two episodes were just embarrassing, Party and that one with The Horrors.

Nathan Barley is awesome. I always quote the bit when he's rapping when going down on that girl. Then it makes me laugh.

"Takin' the lips, down to the nips."
"You drift off, I'll have a scoff."
"As I come up for air, my mouth says 'Yeah?'"

I agree 100%

It's rather recent here, I've only caught a few episodes. Kind of on the fence, but I've had a few moments where it's like "oh yeah, that's my kind of weird."

I'm with whoever said The IT Crowd is better. That show is so much funnier than The Mighty Boosh.

The whole appeal of The Mighty Boosh is the world its set in and the banter between Vince and Howard. But even then its not really that funny. I'm not a fan of random humour, because the only reason its funny is because its random. It's like Invader Zim. It was funny when i was a teen but now i can see its just the poor man's attempt at comedy. That, and sarcasm.

Take an average episode of Arrested Development and compare it to The Mighty Boosh and you'll see the difference in the quality of writing.

But yeah, i liked the Old Greg episode and the one where they're talking about that musical duo who went into the desert to find their new sound. That was good.

"It is not cheating when a man love's his guitar"

"It is when he puts his balls into it and strums himself to ectasy!"

That and:

"Oh yeah i remember her. We'd do it for sixty minutes at a time. Sometimes one hundred and eighty"

I think series 3 got a bit overt with the drug references - they're stoners; we got it from the first couple of series. I think they cheapened themselves by spelling it out.

I wouldn't call it genius but find it immensely funny at times, and it's still quite a special show.

This is a gem...
