according to elderscrolls.com - apparently not! This game is going to be quality! However, I seem to suffer the same fate as suicide42 everytime i start to play Morrowind - I just become overwhelmed - a lack of guidance in some ways - and just give up. heh.

I want to get overexcited.. But I remember the previews for Morrowind, including full water reflection, which ended up toned down to just terrain reflection for release (speed issues apparantly) Woulda thought a patch would have fixed that by now heh.

It took me 3 characters to grasp Morrowind. The first two characters I wandered around and was overwhelmed. The third character I created I stayed very close to town till I started to grasp the basics of Morrowind and I played him till I beat the game.

I just go off and live in the wild and do my own thing :E Great game, but if Oblivion isn't capable of that kind of modding I wont like it as much. The mods made Morrowind what it was IMO.

It's a US magazine. This new game looks amazing. Can't wait to see more.

We are pleased to announce that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is currently in development for PC and future generation consoles. In development since 2002, Oblivion is another leap forward in role-playing with its combination of freeform gameplay and cutting-edge graphics. The world-exclusive details on Oblivion are featured in the October issue of Game Informer. Check out their mammoth 12-page cover story to get all the details and screenshots. (And yes, that's in-game art on the cover.)

Nice eh? :D

OMFG Yay! TES IV: Oblivion.

I so need to get that issue when it comes out. I've been following this splash screen since it started.

Alriiiiiiight, time to get that copy of Morrowind I've been putting off so long :)

I hope they have horses and dragons in it this time around.

Looks nice :E
Is it *certain* that is an ingame shot, or ingame "art"?

I mean, some game companies just lie their teeth out with preview shots... Such as Bethesda. Many original Morrowind shots look *nothing* like the final product, some of the shown mechanics such as riding a boat in a venice look-a-like city (that big square city except with tons more detail, forgot its name... Argh! Edit: Oh, Vivec :) Edit2: Err... I think) is a far cry from what the game turned out to be.

You almost forgot the name of Vivec?! You should be stoned! Oh, anyway, the reason some of the preview shots for Morrowind didn't look like the finished product is because, as someone already said, a few advanced graphic features were taken out because it slowed down the average gamers computer to a slide show. Hopefully this will not happen in TESIV.

I hated Vivec, It's a shame they didn't do it more like the original concepts, but as someone said on the TES forums about it, back then something like that would have killed the framerate, was atleast two/three times the size of Balmora and quite a bit more detailed.

And yeah, hopefully they'll keep more things in TES4 than remove. Saying that technology has come a long way since Morrowind was released, with a good optimised engine such as the Gamebryo or an in house one. They should be able to really push the limits. There's a lot of optimising features that can be used, things we're using for Sourceworld to pull off large area's, so I'd imagine bethsoft worked those out years ago.

Wish the mag would hurry up, can't wait to see how it looks for real. Then comes the waiting, after seeing some video they'll probably release of the day/night cycles, they love to show them off, and with good reason, they were great in Daggerfall.. simply amazing in Morrowind, just think what they could pull off now :D:D

image if there were shooting stars and seemingly volumetic clouds, like you see in FS2004. And then imagine if sunsets and sunrises actually looked like they do irl. :)

You can take a gondola in Vivec, you just teleport to the spot instead of standing and waiting on the boat.
