Okay, since I was here right from the beginning of all this.
I'll try and contain all the information in one post for people who missed it.

First there was a post by Icarus saying that there would be MP in HL2. Someone claimed to have PMed him, and he confirmed it to them, which doesn't make sense to me but..
Also, the thread name was fishy, "Secret lies about HL2" so it was kind of a double negative.
On we go.
His comments were quoted in another thread. Which was closed, then re-opened.
Several posts have been edited and deleted.
Including posts about it being related to the 3rd test.

Did I miss anything?

Ok... a summary of the events so far.

Someone posted a thread that basically said "Icarus said the mods can't tell us any real secrets because they are under a NDA, so this is a thread for mods to post their fake secrets in"

Then in that thread, icarus posted, saying "HL2 has multiplayer, it was kept out of review copies and is a big surprise" or something to that effect.

People went crazy, another thread was created quoting ONLY icarus's post, not the thread, so people believed it. When people started noticing the original thread, and assuming it was a joke, posts were deleted left right and centre. Eventually both threads were deleted.

All these new threads have started popping up. Apparently, Icarus said, in binary, that we are being tested, before deleting a thread.

Here we are, in total confusion.
