Since there are 1 billion "fan club" threads around, I figure why not make a thread for those who think that Led Zeppelin own Doom 3.

Jimmy Page > Space Marine

'nuff said.

Yeah, good call. I'm not sure who's done the music for Doom 3, but I'll stake good money that it's not Led Zeppelin, therefore Doom 3 loses.
I'll also stake good money that Doom 3's music doesn't have unnecessary over-extended drum solos, in which case Doom 3 wins.

Of course they own :)

*hums Ramble On while doing the washing up*

Yeah Zeppelin is better because they are clever and hide thier links to Satan ... unlike Doom 3

http://www2.memlane.com/jmilner/stairwaybackwards.htm

"So here's to my Sweet Satan.
The other's little path
Would make me sad,
Whose power is faith.
He'll give those with him 666.
And all the evil fools,
they know he made
us suffer sadly. "

Interesting, but I'm fairly sceptical of that. I mean, Led Zeppelin never seemed like a particularly satanic band and they'd have to work backwards to find lyrics to match the "Satanic Message" which sounds like a particularly hard task. I think the same goes with Another One Bites the Dust - considering Queen's drug habits, it should've gone "It's fun to snort coke off silver platters held by naked dwarves"
And as for the Britney one, well... Sure there was the school girl kinkiness, but...

on the risk of being pummeled to death ...Zeppelin is boring

*Stern dives out window and heads for the hills*

I like zep but I'm tired of them after 20 years of listening to them. If I ever hear stairway to heaven again I'm going to personally wring Plant's neck ...Song remaims the same is still good but I never want to hear blackdog or dazed and confused ever again

If you ask me, that satanic message is all the power of suggestion.

Thanks for making me look deeper into that, sheesh. It's still dark here and any backwards sound files scare the hell outta me for some reason :p

You deserved to have your testicles degloved for saying that CptStern!

nah that already happened when I said Hl2 sucks ;)

I'M kidding!!!!!, I love Hl2 so much I'd kill you all to play it ...and then suck yer brains out your ears with a straw

i completely agree... zeppelin is ismply one of the best bands to ever grace this planet... it would be awesome if ID got the rights to use them as their soundtrack. Imagine blowing away monsters and demons listening to "living lovin maid" ahahahahah sweeet stuff....

PEACE

Mike

meh I was grooving to Zep before some of you were toilet trained

early stones, 69-74, kicks zep's ass

TBH, I was never really into the stones, Gimmie Shelter is it, it all sounds the same to me. But Pink Floyd is by far the best band ever. Dark Side of the Moon and Wish you Were Here are spiritual enlightment prolly the 2 best albums I have ever heard.

the early stuff like Exiles on Mainstreet and Goat Head's soup

cant forget the darkness dudes. AND IF U SAY THEY SOUND LIKE CLASSIC ROCK GO SCREW YOURSELF! THEY HAVE THEIR OWM SOUND! lol had to get that out .... woooot....

PEACE

That's not how is goes! The correct reverse lyrics are:

"Oh here's to my Sweet Satan.
The one whose little path
would make me sad,
whose power is Satan.
He'll give you give you 666.
There was a little tool shed,
where he made us suffer
us suffer, sad Satan. "

Get it right!

I'd say that Zep wins in both cases. Unnecessary over-extended drum solos make anything better. Kinda like whipped creme.

While I hate to disagree with you, Robert Plant was a Satanist. Not the crazy, fake, yet well publicized Satanism you are PROBABLY thinking of, but the only real Satanism that exists. This is the Satanism that Anton LaVey founded. I'm not going to take the time to explain what it's all about, but it's NOT what you think of as satanism. As a matter of fact I quite agree with many points that LaVey made, but in the end I couldn't being myself to commit to it.

So I see Led Zepplin as a Satanic band, but that's not a bad thing at all.

that debate has been going on for 30 years, almost as much as the ac/dc thing ...it's hogwash. In the 1980's jimmy swaggart and parent groups came after Iron maiden for using satanic images on their album covers ...I saw an interview with Bruce dickenson (singer) and he laughs when discussing it ...he said that only in the US did they draw that connection. I think it's just some crazy fundamentalists having fun with audio

correct me if im wrong but didnt jimmy page do a fair bit of work with the stones in their early days?

Yes, Satanism and Satan Worshipping are two different things. Satanism has nothing to do with Satan.

Robert Plant wasn't as much into the occult as Jimmy Page. Robert was more into celtic fairy tales and folk lores, and the Lord of the Rings.

Jimmy Page was a devoted supporter of Aleister Crowley, and he has the biggest collection of occult books in the world. But he didn't worship Satan. Or maybe he was, we don't know, but that's just speculation taht won't go anywhere. Only fact is that the band denies it, his friends denies it and he himself denies it.

As for the reversed lyrics in Stairway, believe me, that has been discussed since the universe came to be. Maybe you can hear thing when Stairway is played bacwards, but the band has allways denied backmasking. Jimmy Page was an innovative guitarist, but he's also known as an innovative producer. He placed mics in different positions in the studio, and added bacward reverbs and different sounds to Zeppelin tracks.
I'm not saying you can't hear clear words when the track is played bacwards, but as long as the band denies it, that's the truth for me. I even admit I could sing along with the printed bacward lyrics in front of me, but I think you can hear anything you want if you believe there's some shit going on.

And don't anyone get any ideas on speculating Led Zeppelin's alleged Faustian Pact ;)

So to quote Robert Plant: "Who can sing backwards? That's ridiculous, only americans would come up with something that stupid"

here's an article linking groups like P.O.D, Marylin manson, and jimi hendrix with satan :

"Considering Jimi Hendrix’s obvious "demon possession", P.O.D. member Marcos Curiel makes a very alarming statement concerning the ‘inspiration’ for their album, Satellite:

"I was influenced heavily by Jimi Hendrix and was inspired by him to write this new record."
Marcos Curiel, P.O.D.
(Guitar World, Sept 2001, p. 67)
"Inspired by him" — an admittedly demon possessed, occultist, drug addict that has been dead for over 30 years! "

and this about Ozzy (why anyone would bring their young daughter to see ozzy I cant even begin to guess)

"Loud and abusive tunes - check
Lange quantities of profanity from stage - check
Marijuana smoke - multiple checks
Nudity - check
Tattoos and piercings - checks all about
Alcohol - check, but secondary to the pot
In fact, most bands were encouraging pot smoking from the stage, including the guy introducing the bands. The guy in question also had some reasonably raunchy things to say about boy bands, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and what he expected from the crowd. Overall, this was not a function I would bring my impressionable daughter to. I think that was a given, though."

"If there was ANY Bible Believing Christianity and praise for the Lord Jesus Christ in P.O.D.’s music, these ungodly and blasphemous groups at Ozzfest would not want P.O.D. within 10 miles!

The world, and especially the Ozzfest rockers, hate the Lord Jesus Christ. . ."

about Iron Maiden:

"And don’t think for one minute it’s just a gimmick. Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden told Hit Parader, they "play with CONVICTION. . ." and ". .TOTALLY BELIEVE in the music we're performing......."

"Speaking of satanic blessings, here's one powerful piece of evidence connecting Rock priests Iron Maiden with satan. A strange little sign appears somewhere on all their tapes: [see picture at right]
According to a police spokesman on satanism, law enforcement is encountering this demon-sign all over the place. It separates the hard-core satanist from the 'poseur'".

can anyone say "wacko"?

Haha, that's funny shet. I once listened to some tape made by fundamentalists or something and it was hilarious man! Their main point seemed to be to make Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath the scapecoats to anything from kids smoking pot to Church of Satan increasing in popularity.

The funiest part was when the guy went on for like 30 minutes on describing how Ozzy bit the head off the dove, drank it's blood, and hailed Satan...While the whole insident actually was just drunken Ozzy having fun.
