?After nearly two years of building and thousands of dollars sunk into my project, it?s finished. This is my latest video which details how I made my famous Lego model of Zanzibar from it?s very first stage, to the now near completed form. I wanted to make this video so that everyone will get the facts straight. I originally sent the picture and video files that you?ll see in this video to Bungie Studios where they incorporated them into the Halo 3 Legendary edition bonus disk.?

Yeah that's pretty damn cool. I donno how anyone could say that creating something in your spare time is "sad". Should he have played video games, accomplishing nothing, instead?

Lol, you need to grow up a tad more. College costs a ton and I don't think you can afford a house at his age. Most people still live at their parents house because it's a community college (aka a serious one) with no dorm room support.

Not that I need to point out how sad it is, but couldn't he have done something either more exciting or productive? Like build a level for a video game, or even just play halo?
 
After working on that for 2 years I would've destroyed it afterwards. :D
 
It's harder to be impressed whe you don't know the level.

I don't see how people can "waste" free time if they are doing something they enjoy.

Excuse me? Why is this sad? Why are people calling this sad, or a waste of time? It's like saying drawing is a waste or time, or designing something is sad, or anything else creative and hobby like is sad and a waste of free time.

I thought it was awesome, although the map, now Last Resort, is a lot different now but all the same, it's a damned good job.

Just depends if he spent all his summers doing the Lego and not going out with mates - or just in his free free time.

About the video itself, pretty pimp. I always respect people who can (and do) bring their Lego A-Game. Plus, his video's on one of the bonus DVDs in Halo 3 Legendary Edition, to which I say good for him. It's always a fan's dream to be recognized by the game's creators, and he's definately got his fifteen minutes of fame. To make it onto the Halo discs, kudos.

And now to talk about the negative comments.

Oh, Jesus, did you guys think up those cliches by yourself or did you have help? DUHR HURR HURR, HE'S GOTTA BE A SOCIAL OUTCAST TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT, HURR.

We are discoursing on an internet messageboard that was primarily built for Half-Life. A video game. So no matter where you post on this forum, you came here initially FOR A VIDEO GAME. You registered on a video game forum. Automatically, that makes you a nerd. Secondly, check your postcounts and your join dates. Yeah, you're super productive with your free time too.

How many of YOU still live at home? Some of you are just children so you have to live at home. I know some of you out there only moved out because you're at uni, and you'll probably move back into your parent's house after you graduate.

Oh and yes, the guy obviously doesn't get laid because he's into Legos and has spent time working on a big project with them. Never makes any mention of how much time a day/week/month he put into the project, just that it took 2 years, but obviously he devoted all his waking hours to the project and because he shuns the light of the sun in his 'rent's basement he had no time to find a female to stick his penis in. But all of us here on the gaming forum, we're all super studs of course. I have a girl under my desk right now blowing me, how cool am I right?

It's kinda like when I got flamed for making a Combine action figure because it was "nerdy".- Yeah it's nerdy, but BFG?

Yeah alright, just because some people have the ability to use their talents to design such things doesn't make them losers, or people with no lives.

Infact, when I meet women who spend lots of time making artistic and elaborite things, I find it sexy. I find people who use their talents sexy, not lame.
 
Dude, I'd PAY for a Combine action figure. I wrote this long post once about how Half-Life should have figures and how they should be designed. Whenever I get the chance, I'm gonna talk to Valve about it. :)

And the thing is though, you are slightly wrong about one thing: it does make us nerds. But who cares, right? We can be nerdy. Everyone on here right now, no exceptions, NO exceptions, is a nerd. But as long as you have fun doing what you do, why should that matter? You have a nerdy hobby? That's YOUR hobby. That's your fun. Other people making fun of how you have fun is petty.
 
Indeed, I am PRIDEFUL of my nerdom.

I think it's just as fair as how sports fans get all crazy about their teams, and blah blah, and who's winning.

So if they can do that, it's just as normal as for people to be comfortable with their nerdiness

It's really rather infantile to say that sad, or that he completely wasted his time. He divulged his time into a hobby of which he enjoyed, it's no more stupid than spending your time working on motorcycles, or spending your time working on cars.

And who's to say that he has no social life? I can put thousands of dollars and thousands of hours into my motorcycle and still have a completely healthy social life, what's to say he can't do the same with his Lego creations?

Although I WILL say though, in my purely biased opinion, that it was kind of stupid, considering that I hate Halo. I would have preferred to see him recreate a sect of City 17 via Lego :p

Hell, I bet there wouldn't be half the amount of idiotic criticism flooding this thread if he had made something Half Life related!
