Eating popcorn, avoiding doing any work and watching bliink obliterate anyone who doesn't stay ontopic and away from flames :E

I watched some of it ^_^
I got bored pretty quick...
It looks like a good video though

That vid was quality.

*claps* nice find!

For those of you who haven't watched it, try to, it's extremely interesting.

Basically the jist is that politicians, running out of ways to control the masses, are implimenting fear to gain power. And they're doing it through the lies and BS a lot of people on this forum have been debating about.

Al Quaeda being made into a 'global terrorist organisation' when in fact it's little more than a few extremeists funding a couple of small anti-west terrorist groups. The evidence being used to convict terrorist suspects - such as home videos some arabs shit of their holiday to disneyland, and a tourist map an Oz had left round someones house. That's it, no other evidence. Some students who protested about the Cashmere (sp?) situation were arrested and acused of terrorism when they went paintballing - training, we are told, to attack the US.

And the bit that made me laugh out loud; the evil dirty bomb we all heard about, is such a sh*te weapon. US, and Iraq have tried n tested it, and come to the conclusion that it simply wouldn't work - and probably kill nobody. A study done into found that people exposed to 'high' doses of the radiation the dirty bomb would give off would be harmed, but not killed....

But get this, to recieve the 'high' dosage of radiation from the dirty bomb they would have to stand in the same spot, close to where the bomb went off, for one year.

Watch it guys, lets debate about it.

alright how come i cant see it? there's a few missing images but no link to a movie ..am I missing something here?

I think you might need a certain video player...

When I watched it...I already had realplayer and it worked fine.

yep it uses realplayer.

Yea...just dl realplayer...it's worth it to watch the vid.

sounds like a John Carpenter theme at the beginning.

Stern , you should really watch this .
In brief , governments have lost the ability to seduce populations with various ideologies and have instead turned to "the power of nightmares" in order to make themselves appear indespensable.
Once you accept that its an essay and not a timeline/history lesson it becomes very easy to follow and absorb. Its a bbc series that was repeated a couple of weeks ago and I wouldnt hesitate to reccomend it anyone with a brain.

Can still be got on bt.

Note: I only posted that vid to free peoples minds even more...I am not taking sides.

I just want the right wingers to come in here so I can watch a debate.

Now...get your asses in here and debate! :frown:

heh that movie is like a powderkeg doused in gasoline sitting on a warehouse full of dynamite on top of a underground nuclear storage site!!

pretty interesting/disturbing thought provoking

the scribblings on the notepad that was left under the bed by someone who lived there 2 years before those dudes got busted for links to terrorism is just ...crazy/right on the money

watch the rest tommrrow, WoW now

I could only watch a small part, due to the instability and constant reloading of the video file by bloody Real player. But i do agree with a lot of it, apart from the fact where they said that "idealogy" was dead and that the way the politicians controlled the public now was through fear, the fact is, it has always been through fear, and that is what the whole point of idealogies pretty much is.

Look at how Hitler came to power in German in the 20's and 30's, through his Nazi idealogy and through creating fear and promising new things. The way that one side fought the other and made sure that their people kept on supporting World War 2, was to create a fear of the enemy. If you surrender, they will kill you and rape and enslave your family.
Again, this was very evident in the Cold War, American society, instead of looking for terrorists, looked for communists. If you didn't like the way America was run during the 50's and 60's, you were a communist, plain and simple. You were arrested, brutalised, bullied, spied upon, your house was bugged, you were victimised, mainly because someone didn't like your opinion, so labeled you a communist. The reason the military got so much spending, and the American people, and also western people, supported the military spending was because of the constant threat of the Communists, who hated you and everything you stood for i.e. freedom. Of course, the communists in China and the Soviet Union were also saying exactly the same things, if you disagreed with the way the country was run, you were labeled a capitalist and you just disappeared in the middle of the night, never to be seen from again.
Now, with the end of the Cold War and military spending dropping, due to that fact, a new enemy needed to be put into the vacuum left after the Soviet Union's fall. That new enemy was Terrorism, Terrorism has always been around, but they were just labeled as communists, or capitalists. When the threat from terrorism has gone and the people get sick of constantly hearing about terrorists, a new threat will suddenly emerge to take their place? Martians perhaps?

oh but it goes so much better midway.

I wonder why none of the right wingers in our little group have seen this movie; they should imho

You can't really argue against it CptStern, it has been part of the ruling strategy of politicians for thousands of years.

sure, I agree ..but the details of the movie: the war on "terror" the deception (well nothing I didnt know before but it ties it all in very nicely). That's bound to either surprise or outrage some of them ..depending on how open minded they are before they watch it

Could you explain these scribbling on the notepad please? I have 56k, so theres no way I have the time to see this film. Thanks :)

well there was 6 men who were arrested charged and convicted of ties to terrorist cells. The most damning piece of evidence was a notepad with scribblings on it that expert witnesses spun to make it look like they were elaborate codes on a terrorist attack on a american target ..turns out the notepad was actually owned by a former tenant who had lived there 2 years before one of the suspects moved in ..turns out he was a little crazy and claimed to be the secretary of defense from some middle eastern country (he wasnt) and was drawing battle plans based on historical campaigns that he had supposedly fought ...in other words cartoon scribbles on someone else's notepad sent 6 men to jail

I too hate realplayer, but it's worth it for this movie ..bodacious you owe it to yourself to see it, even if you dont agree with it you should see it

yes, quicktime is far superior
QFT.

Trust me it's worth the watch...after you get done watching the vid just un-install rp.

Oh and about that constant connecting thing...this what you do.

Just wait for the video to load completly...like 4 secs into the vid pause it and go do somethin for a while. After you come back it should be loaded competly and you won't have to wait for it to connect constantly.

Quicktime installs their iPod and itunes crap that always runs in the backgroud eating up resources. It is a better player, but is still shady.

Divx...now that is the shizzle.

Also...why hasn't anyone started a debate yet? :|

Debate?

OK.

The docu mentions at the start that now politicans are resorting to these fear tactics to maintain their power (although it is debateable whether or not this is true) - now, as we start to realise this, as we realised the old "offering of dreams" was a lie, does this mean that these fear tactics will soon run out of steam, people will ignore them, and politicians will eventually lose power.

My question is; with all the above taken in mind, is the "war on terror" the punctuation marking the end of capitilism, and the inevitable rise of socialism. Or are you not a believer in Marxist thinking? Do you believe in Marx, but think that the war on terror will continue to go on for a long, long time - because a lot of people buy into it. What do you think? And yes, it helps to watch the vid first.
