I'll make this post clean and simple so those that are not computer smart will understand.

Why the Hacker does not have all the code:
1: If he did have all the code, like I've said 100 times, there wouldn't be missing sequences, animations, compression code misplaced on walls, and all kinds of other problems that we did NOT see in the E3 Demo. Obviously, this Hacker either knows he doesn't have all the code, or he thinks he does.
2: Obviously this Hacker hates Valve, so I wouldn't trust a word he says. To top it off, he is a thief

Why nobody should take this Beta seriously.....AT ALL
1: The Hacker himself had to connect all the code together (Compile) and since he Doesn't work at Valve, I can assure you there is misplaced Code, and perhaps alot of it.
2: The Scripted scene in Traptown is actually a very simple code. It is a simple If & Then with a Loop inbetween. If in 5 years, Valve didn't put a 3 line piece of code in, then something is seriously wrong.
3: Even if all the Code was compiled correctly, that proves that the Hacker himself did not get all the Code (Errors)
4: If the Hacker by some chance did get all the code (Very unlikely), then we would be seeing the same graphical display (Without tons of Errors) as in the E3 Video.

Why I think the Hacker himself is a Modder/Skinner
-He has already created CS, DOD & HL in the Source Engine.

Etc. Etc.
If this Isn't enough to convince you not to take this hacker/leaked beta seriously, you need your head checked :|

yeah whats up with this hl2 shit and bneing in cs??

can someone help and explain to me>

Yeah, but the true issue is, what if the hacker stole ALL of the code? He seems pretty confident that he did. He's released a playable build of HL2, and now a lot of Counter-Strike content.

Im more worried that Valve might have been saying some, fudged thruths...

you're confusing code and resources. I'm not taking a position here, but the things like old CS textures and animations are all resources, they have nothing to do with the code.

Your right, and I guess I should call it resources

Read my post again, if he had all the code, there wouldn't be some many errors we didn't see in the E3 Demo.

Man, all this bah! Lets just see how this plays out over time. The beta is breath taking though :D

You do not know what compile means.

basically all it is, is the latest release (26/9/03) but missing lots of content.

and i mean lots, maybe even code too

He said he took the source engine... Not the game itself. The engine isn't supposed to have textures and animations.

Haven't you heard? he says he HAS also Condition Zero and TF2. He is planning on releasing them soon. CZ is already out...

And about the missing code, I can't believe how you can deny the obvious fact that HL2 was NOT COMPLETE. And it still isn't by the way. So in conclusion your post is just more fanboy crap we're all used to.

Another idiot who is clueless, if he had all the code, then there wouldn't be tons of Errors. Its odd the E3 Demo didn't have them HUGE Error blocks laying everywhere isn't it?

You do not know what compile means.

There's alot of Defintions for Compile, I mean the one as in putting together something. Not :Computer Science: Compile

I think what Gabe had on his PC was an earlier build of the game, probably the one specifically for the e3 showing. It's obvious at this point the hacker didn't get all the files. I also don't recall seeing that Bink video of the monster and the DX9 lighting effects on its exoskeleton in this release.

Also keep in mind that we don't know the creation dates, only the days the files were created when they were stolen/copied. The beta build date in-game could have been changed, because he has the sourcecode as well. Seems to me like an attempt to make fans dislike Valve, to be honest.

No your right HL2 was not complete, thats why it didn't come out on the 30th.

How in the hell do you know what Valve has completed or not, how the hell do you know that the hacker stole all the code, how would the hacker know. Just because the hacker thinks he stole all the code, doesn't mean he stole it all. What about the tectures, creature models, art work...

and even if he does have the pre gold, which I doubt... theres something missing.

But Im going to subscribe to the theory that Valve spent five years to fake a realese date, and lie to the consumers. Because you know this incomplete beta really proves how evil Valve is for lying to a bunch of whussy ass nerds sitting behind a keyboard crying for a piece of valves table scraps.

Okay guys...

WOULD YOU STOP POSTING ABOUT HL2 AND THE HACKER.

This is a HL2 Discussion not a Hacker discussion.

STOP ALREADY - We know what we know

He obviously just **** around with Valve..

He said that if Valve came with more bullshit, he'd release more.. wich happened.. Valve came with more.. (only a third was taken etc.)

And now, it seems like halflife2.net, half life radio, Dsty2001 etc. want him to release more, 'cause you sure know a lot shit about this guy and what he has on his harddrive.

hl2.net reaching a new low? god damn! what kind of a thread is this anyways

what do you suggest we discuss, then?

the hacker and the leak are the most current info we have about hl2. unless you wanna keep discussing the bink vids, then shut the crap up.

he stole much muich much more than 1/3 of the code, whether or not there is an entire game is another thing

Jesus Phuck you guys need to get a hobbie while you wait for hl2 to be released.

The code and most of the game was stolen, i.e. textures, sounds, what have you. So what? Valve needs to fire/ban/kill their netadmin and fix their little mess.

They will delay the game a while so they can do damage control. They will change code (hopefully) so the source leak doesn't compromise the actual game (again, most likely). The game WILL be released. Every Fanboy on here will love it, and life will go on. Quit crying.

btw: the game looks twice as good as in the bink vids.

most of the game was stolen...?

I find that hard to believe.....i think valves 1/3 estimate is more accurate.........

the hacker just peiced things together to make it look like its all they have...

Agreed. Too many of the engine features are lacking in the beta.. stuff we even saw in the e3 presentation

Nothing has been posted in this thread (and most of this forum) that isn't speculation.

I've just wasted a few minutes of my life reading this. And so have you :)

First of all I find all this Hacker/Beta very interesting, for me this is like the 9/11 of computer gamming.

Second, I maybe a complete newb for asking this, but what is the point of running HL and CS on the source engine? What is he hoping to accomplish by this? Why take screenshots if they just look the same as if they were running normaly? I'm confused.

Heh, look at how much I got flamed at, but yet, Spit made a thread and everybody agreed :) Hehe

right now the "beat leak" is about 3.5 gigs !!! if so called 1/3 was stolen as u said imagine how big the final game would be.....

Source code = Game files and artwork, not.

Two completely different things there buddy.

The final game could be 10gigs installed for all we know......

games are getting bigger everyday remember ...

a few years ago i thought a 25MB game was huge.

HL2 is the first of a new generation of games.......

haha sorry that happened, but it's just human of us to flame and insult one another. Just want to tell you I appreciate your theories and I like to keep an open mind about that stuff. People who like to flame, what have you contribute?

Dsty, if you come up with something new, just tell us, some of us are listening. ;)

Without actually seeing the beta myself it's a bit too hard to tell. But is it not possible that he stole everything, but won't be releasing it until Thursday? I'd say that's possible.

From what I've heard regarding the current beta, the AA/AF causes artifacts (something that was fixed after E3), and from what I've heard in here there's no e3_tunnels demo. Other people I've spoken to have said there's loads of models missing and I've seen screenshots of Kleiner's Lab with Alyx and Kleiner doing nothing and being 2 error modles behind them. If that's all they had by September 30th, my ass isn't hairy.

I thought were not supposed to discuss this, so much for enforced rules

the hacker says the code is not completed, but it is

why would valve license the engine.

I'd agree with everyone, but the I'd kill for any new HL2 media. Now I can play the levels we saw in the bink vids. :)

You sir are a freakin moron. Just because YOU get giant 'ERRORS' when you run it doesn't mean everyone does. I don't get those 'ERRORS' on traptown. The only thing missing on traptown are 1 or 2 events, namely being able to knock the swinging girder down and blowing up the car.

And you have one hairy ass.

I'm told.

I agree though, it hardly seems feasbile that it would be in the state of what I've seen of the beta (admittedly not much) even if it weren't ready.

The beta just doesn't seem to match up even in terms of looks with what we've seen officially. Hardly impressive graphically, although that could just be because people taking screenies are running sub par systems I suppose. Don't ANY of these haxxor kiddies have decent DX9 compatible graphics cards?

A few years ago? What were you smoking where you thought 25Mb was big? 5 years ago the biggest game you could get was BladeRunner (I think) which weighed in at about 1.5-2Gb. Even Syndicate Wars, a DOS game, was 200Mb. A few years ago? I think you mean more like a decade ago.
